  1. I see the BBC TV forecaster (I've already forgotten which one!) mentioned a miserable upcoming week for North Sea coasts, with lots of haar / fret. Hopefully it won't be a problem for my area, being quite far south and with less of a sea fetch than further north and we are now getting late into Spring.

Personally, this is my worst type of weather; a week or more of gloomy, cold weather, which is made more unbearable because other parts of the country are often basking in sunshine. Like I said though, in my experience, it is starting to get late for it to happen here and I'm confident I'll have some reasonable sunshine, even if other places are sunnier and warmer still.

I am also wondering if my area will get much sunshine with the setup as it is, I am only 12 miles from the North Norfolk coast and 35 miles from the East, so will be interesting to see if the sun is strong enough to burn back the murk, fingers crossed.

  2. Chio I was wondering if there are any major changes to the strat forecast since the last update.

Looks like the models are are beginning to flirt with the idea of a GH but that seems to be about as far as they go with it,they then seem to be going with a stronger jet and a more mobile Atlantic theme around T+120 or so, having said that the models are all over the shop and have been for a while now.Would be interested to get your take on things as always as I am just a novice, thanks for all your hard work I really do enjoy reading your informed posts.

Update, the latest model runs looking more favourable to a blocking pattern for a GH if I am reading things right.

  3. Well winter is not finish in my part of the world just yet, with temps at present at -2.8c, it been sunny most of the day and snow is still lying, although we did get to 2.4c yesterday.

I think we will see more of an NE this coming weekend extending further west with hight rises to our NE with the possibility of some more snow for some of us. Further out I still think we have a good chance of hight rises to our NW over Greenland.

All of this is just my take on how things look at the moment, things are very uncertain and this could all change within a few days, so as usual nothing is set in stone, interesting times ahead.

  4. Peter H.You seem to forget not everyone lives where you do, here in East Anglia we still have lying snow, we had 13cm Saturday night with a max temp on Sun of 0.1c today we managed 2.4c briefly and the local BBC Look East forecast for tonight is snow pushing south through our region. The remainder of the week sees max daytime temp at 1c and night time lows at -7c on Wednesday and sub zero all week so its not all about just one area, sure the west is much milder but that does not represent the whole picure, with all due respect, this you seem to forget.

  5. Well, hardly a highlight in this part of the UK

A few days of rather cold dry weather with rain and milder temperatures by Friday, at least according to the latest BBC forecast maps on Ceefax. Hardly Earth shattering.

Looks like this all too brief cold spell is going to be a largely dry snowless one.

The best we can hope for is a few light showers of snow grains along the east coast, At least according to RTE.

    Wow !

My post was never intended to be Earth Shattering as you put it, just my take on the current situation as it was.

  6. Meto still going with mostly cold for the next week slightly milder at times in the west. Most of the latest runs are also going with the push from the east moving further west so starting to look more promising for cold, still not set in stone of course but looking far more likely now. Looks like I could be seeing a bit of the white stuff here in the east before too long.
