  1. Some moderate rainfall rates from two small cells just North of Portsmouth atm, upslope lift of the South Downs Escarpment perhaps aiding those particular cells too (presuming they're not anaprop).

Nah think they are real mate. Just come back from Tesco's by the A34 and saw a VERY impressive cell to the NE. Looks like a real good cauliflower. Extremely dark bases. That will be dropping soon I think.

  2. Well we reached just below 25°C an hour ago, but the sea breeze has kicked in a nd put it back to 21°C.

No signs of any build up, just some Ac and very shallow Cu well inland.

Heya. Definately very close! It touched 24.3 an hour or so again and i saw a little tower shoot up but soon came back down as cloud came along and the temp dropped. Its now 23.9 so its defiantely touch and go. Its only got the next hour or so to do the job!!

  3. Yes sure - a few here

http://geography.asu.edu/aztc/monsoon.html (I found this one to be very informative)

"In general, for Phoenix, the temperature limits for the production of monsoon thunderstorms are 100° to 108°F with the optimum temperature being about 105°F. Temperatures needed to produce Tucson's thunderstorms are somewhat lower."

Why does Tucson need a lower temperature? Is that because its more mountinous around this area thus that helps to give the lift?

Daniel goes out to Tucson which is further down than pesa and ther other places.

  4. Hahaa!! Yes I agree with all the above. To be honest I was thinking of emailing the lady (bet she gets harrasesd a lot poor woman!) to find out more info about it. Could you post your links that you've read up on? I've never really studied into it until I saw those pictures!!!!!

  5. Oh no!! You've done it now! :( I sooo wanna go bad! Count me in. I said no to the tornado chasing due to money but I think i've hit the point where I will never be well off enough to afford extra things. The poor get poorer ... So I think Mr.Credit card will have to be partly used! If I dont do it now (next couple of years or so) before I settle and have kids I can't see me ever doing it. It's one of those now or never times for me. And I don't want to 80 in my wheelchair looking at someone else's snaps. I wanna look back over my own and remember the sights and sounds.

That all said Daniel is possible out in Arizona on work this summer but this isn't confirmed. So I am somewhat tempted. He went out a couple of years ago and was hoping to see these storms but none happened ... until the 2 days he was shipped out to San Jose to help out and then one of his owrk mates phoned and told him what he missed out on!!! ;)

We would need to persuade Paul and Nick this was worth it - Drug them to get em' on the plane LOL.

Did you read all the interesting facts that she wrote alongside the pictures such as the season times and he rain and lightning fact. Very interesting!

  6. We headed west into Medicine Lodge and intercepted an embedded Supercell moving across the Oklahoma and Kansas border, we took mud roads and at times was fighting to keep the car on the road, we crested the top of the hill and saw rain wrapping around a Meso, I then spotted the wedge tornado coming out of the rain and turned abruptly, as i tried to head east I nearly ditched the car off the road, the guys are calling me Colin Mcrae now :unknw: Leaves were floating down around us from the circulation, as we hit the tarmac again an Intense Hail core was chasing us. We then stairstepped the squall line down to Oklahoma and watched amazing gust fronts from each individual cell, then shot lightning and now in the Best Western in Weatherford (Ok)

N0t sure if that petrified me f0r Iife 0r made me want t0 g0 aII the m0re!

    Nice 0ne!

  7. We are heading south to get the warmer temps, grungefest here in Central Kansas, the tornado damage we have passed on the way is pretty spectacular, trailers rammed into the side of buildings, snapped trees and power lines sheared off, roads flooded and fields have turned into lakes. Devastating scenes here in Kansas it has to be said. State of Emergency in Greensburg, we had to let a Supercell go yesterday as it tracked near to the town again, we later caught it near Pratt and had the most spectacular chase down red dirt roads, this is one video you have to watch, wall cloud and rotation crossing the road in front of us.

    Paul Sherman

Y0u cant say that and n0t p0st it PauI!!
