  1. I'm starting to come to the conclusion that this winter has run it's course now, as the current cold spell comes to a close, and the models don't look great for cold and snow. Therefore, you could say I'm "writing off winter" now. And I'm not that bothered about it really, I am dealing with it better than I thought I would, since it's my first winter as a weather fanatic on the forum (lol). However, many other posters with this attitude will say "bring on spring" referring to warmth, but as I have realised from CSS's wise words wintry weather is a part of spring as is summery weather, and while the sound of the word "March" puts an end to the thought of snow when I think back to years where March and even April has delivered I quickly think differently!
  2. I too feel it wouldn't hurt to speculate an idea of a starting point for next winter. While it is deep FI there is a difference between seeing a forecast from James Madden forecasting the next winter based on sunspots alone than seeing a good starting point forecast based on stratospheric conditions!
  3. Looking at your pic it looks like I had less than you too, due to being marginally further west most likely.
  4. Me too Andy, I had been looking forward to the snow all day yesterday too! I went to bed thinking the bulk of precip over Lincoln could finally deliver but no! I guess you were right about it being 'game over' for us.
  5. I'm quite distraught about how we've missed out. The lack of snow cover means higher daytime temperatures in the sunshine tomorrow than the Met Office originally forecast, as well as higher minimum temperatures too for tomorrow night. There goes the potential ice days on Friday or Saturday. Anyway, time for me to hit the sack now. Byez.
  6. Do you mean this? And typical of tonight that it looks to be benefitting Nortants instead of Leicester.
  7. Does anyone think there is any luck for my location benefitting from any bands of precip again tonight? I want to put my mind at rest there before I hit the sack!

  10. Just remember Northamptoners, you may have stolen the snow from us, but you owe us big time. Just remember that when it comes to next winter. LOL
  11. Hmmm I just have the feeling were way out of the league of those winters if you get my drift.
  12. I think it's freezing rain over here now!
  13. How would say say I stand in west Leicestershire?
  14. I wouldn't give up yet Andy. I was originally getting rather frustrated but I feel more confident now. There is still all night for things to turn in our favour, as it just might turn west again. It doesn't look shabby just from looking outside now!
  15. This is getting unbearable now. Still none here! Barlestone!!!! Now!!! Lol... :L
  16. Yay! Not hit Barlestone yet but a good sign!
  17. I know how you feel Andy. Jeez this is taking the p now!
  18. Really? Cloud has thickened over in Barlestone.
  19. Nothing here in Barlestone yet, but the 16:50 wunderground update has East Midlands under light snow, must show something.
  20. I hope your right man. What concerns me is how thin the cloud layer is here. I can see some blue sky if I look at the sky!
  21. Thanks, a very imformative post. I think when we get snow in spring people are satisfied with the idea of just short-lived temporary snowcover, like in April 2008 when 4cm was reported widely even though it thawed by the next day.
