Day 3, and the snow showers and North Sea just keep on giving!

Best shower of the day in Washington right now. As my Dad always said, patience is a virtue.
In contrast to what my dad used to say to me, which was “if you had a brain you’d be dangerous”. All down to individual parenting skills I suppose ?

Continuous heavy snow for about 20 mins now, this is a very respectable shower!
-
Thunder snow, proper white out blizzard, and the wind is ridiculously bitter

Can definitely see the showers building back to the south out to sea. Tyneside / Wearside (and then Consett of course) in the initial firing line
Yep, another very heavy shower just passed through, keeping the levels topped up just nicely!

It stopped snowing. I’m bored now!

Got that too. However its a narrow shower so wont last long. Behind that there is not a lot coming on the radar yet
I think late afternoon onwards will see the fun again, as we did yesterday

Benton Newcastle = white out. Absolute blizzard

Just need to get a concentration in the Newcastle area and everyone will have had their share
Don’t know where abouts in Newcastle you are, but Winlaton, Blaydon, Cowgate, Wallsend and Benton are well covered and have experienced white out conditions on numerous occasions the past 24hrs. What are you wanting from this cold snap?!

Lull in the showers now here in Newcastle. Have a good 3ins if snow and it’s blowong off rooftops in the wind adding to the fun! I’m betting that today will be a repeat of yesterday, lull through he day but as soon as dusk approaches the showers will pep up again and we’ll get another pasting tonight from streamers

WHITEOUT!!!

A lull. But the Meto seem very confident that plenty more is in the way. Roads around Newcastle are really quite treacherous, particularly the side streets. Sky is orange so would seem as though it’s only a matter of time before more snow and/or hail fall.

For the past 90 minutes, as I suspected in my post earlier, the snow showers have been heavy, frequent, and in all honesty, absolutely fantastic. I love convective snow/snow showers, arguablybthis os my favorite type of weather.

These showers are getting heavier. If they continue like this after sunset we could see a decent dumping

For better or for worse?
A marriage proposal. This cold weather is making some people frisky!

Just had a massive heavy snow shower/strong winds in Newcastle. I’ll bet my house on these pepping up towards dusk and beyond to give a good fall overnight for my area.
The generous covering we already have will, I think, be even more generous by dawn tomorrow.
-
We still have a pretty good covering here in Newcastle but there’s no doubting that a thaw has been an ongoing thaw prett much from the off this morning. Still, can’t complain for a late winter cold snap!

Not long back from a walk to The Range didn't feel all that cold on the sunny side of Yarm Road
Cloud has rolled in with some powdery flakes falling
The wind is nithering though is it not?! It’s noticeable up here in Newcastle and we’ve had a few very heavy short lived snow showers giving temporary minor coverings this morning. I suspect these showers will give permanent coverings later today and overnight.
But the wind wind chill here is very noteworthy....

Had a minor covering on the car windows only in Winlaton, occasional flakes blowing in the wind in Wallsend

May as well pop out of hibernation for what looks like winter’s final hurrah! And potentially, what a hurrah it could prove to be.
Cold and cloudy here now, and the wind is starting to pick up, a very chilly wind at that. I’m hoping the wind veers NE, NNE, or ENE as that tends to favour our region better in these convective/streamer types of set ups. Interestingly the Beeb has us down for a milder blip next Saturday/Sunday before then further snow showers the following week. All way too far out in FI of course to be taken too seriously, however the next 5 days will hopefully provide everyone in our region with some form of decent snowfall.

I'm off work this week and by and large I've been pretty pleased with the weather so far.
A couple of really warm lovely summers days just gone, and hopefully after tomorrow a lovely Friday.
