Snow Watch: London, Se England & E Anglia
Mammatus replied to grab my graupel's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Temperature's falling away here now after a high of 2.1C. Now 1.2C and dropping away under relatively clear skies....... Incidentally Haverhill is colder than the midlands by a good 2C ~ can only bode well for the snow tonight. Seasons -

Latest Sky News forecast shows snowfall for a good 4 -6 hours across East Anglia, London and the southeast before it turns to rain (from 5/6am London& SE/7am Essex - 8am Norfolk). BBC News 24 forecast shows a spell of snow for East Anglia. With the precipitation colliding with the cold air tonight (Air Temperatures -3C) and very cold ground temperatures, there will most definately be a spell of snow for all. EXCEPT maybe far east Kent, east Essex and east Suffolk (Coastal) where there will be a strong easterly breeze off the less cold North Sea moderating the cold air somewhat. Cambridge IMHO will see at least 2", probably nearer 4" of snow. Very much looking forward to tonight's heavy snowfall.............. Seasons -

Really looking forward to all the snow now. Francis and Peter are well respected forecasters and IMHO have this nailed. Big backtracks on the GFS on the 00z and 06z with the low 200 miles southeast. This is going to be a memorable snowfeast that many will look upon as the best for years!!! Terrific times ahead guys............. Seasons -

I'd have to agree with Francis and Peter this evening. IMHO the GFS can't grasp the fact that this low will be 200 miles further southeast......... :o Get ready for a snowfeast guys, this is going to be the best fall for years!!!! :o Seasons -
Snow Watch: East Mids, Lincs And S & E Yorks Pt 2
Mammatus replied to pottyprof's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Hopefully it will, be with winds now coming from the east (where warmer the 850hPa temps are) I suspect now is the coldest it will be for your location tonight as. XCweather currently have Doncaster at 2C...............IMHO too high now to cause any problems due to snow. It's a close call for those east of the Pennines now ~ very similar to East Anglia and Kent earlier on infact when the snow turned to rain sooner than the GFS prggd. Good luck though to all and hope you all do well tonight with a good covering. Seasons -

How's the 'Extreme' snow event up there guys? Anyone approaching the 40/50cm mark yet? I notice milder temperature's are now flooding these areas (1/2C +)........ The rainfall has recently eased here in Suffolk, so it must be heading north Seasons -

Shed loads of slush out there currently. ICE is going to be a huge problem tomorrow morning I suspect with rural area's seeing temperature's plummet to -7C by 08:00. Takecare people~ From slushy Suffolk ~ over and out................ Seasons -

Moderate rain for 2 hours now with almost all the 5 inches thawed. Certainly a 24 hour cold/snow event here at the most with temperatures recovering to slightly below average tomorrow with some pleasent sunshine to-boot. Hardly '91 event 'here', but still good whilst it lasted for a few hours. I must say I'm quite surprised at how most of Norfolk escaped with very little snowfall, and yet the southwest is getting a pounding tonight :o You couldn't make it up!! Over and out from a very wet and chilly Suffolk..................... Seasons -

It's looking very good Steve Slight southward movement of the streamer has now put me in the firing line for the next 1/2 hours with snow showers developing - once there 10/15 miles inland. 2 pretty potent ones about the strike (and close together) with more developing behind...... Another 3/4cm is possible here before 06:00 S -
