  1. Ita pretty hard to get excited about any potential storms after the disappointment of Tuesday and countless other times. Yes most of you on here have done really well out of the current spell but us in Shropshire  have really suffered  (Telford in particular!) Its not fun to see a storm spitting out lighning on the radar then as soon as it enters shropshire it stops! Only to re energise once it has gone over!! Then to cap it off the 2nd storm hits the west midlands when it looked like Telford would get a direct hit!

So i am not going to watch the radar now, if any storms happen great, if not then i haven't wasted any time watching the rest of the county get there storms!!

This area not only sucks the life out of storms, it is sucking the passion in once had for them because they just dont happen.

Thats my rant over anyway :D

I feel quite sorry for you as a weather enthusiast living in Telford. It seems based from this forum that it's the most rubbish place in the world for interesting weather. Not that it's particularly brilliant here, but it seems whenever there's a anything of interest happening in the Midlands in general, Telford and pretty much anywhere in Shropshire seems to be missing out. If you can I'd just move somewhere else. Not that that's always practical mind. Even if you stay there though surely you've got to get a break someday.

Its funny you should say that because we have been thinking of moving, not for weather purposes tho haha! Telford never used to be this bad i can remember some absolute corkers. Its just the last 7 years i could count the amount of storms on 2 hands!  But this is part of been a weather enthusiast. 1 day we will drop lucky in Telford i am sure :D but i have lived here for 40 year's  (yep all my life im 40!) I think it could be time to move on, Conor is finally managing to get away from Telford lets hope he takes the curse with him haha!

  3. Now does distant thunder from a storm 10-15 mile away count? Arrgghh! I did not see any lighning and i was in the garden (its pretty open facing north and west) i heard quite a few distant rumbles but as soon as i went back in the house i heard nothing.  Had my 3 and a half year old in the garden with me and he said it was rubbish! He got so excited when he heard the thunder and though it was going to be loud. Alas it wasn't! Overall pretty disappointed as i thought i would be finally out but close but no cigar.

  4. My 3 and a half year old summed it up. That was rubbish daddy :D

So much promise and we missed out by about 10 miles AGAIN.  Heard plenty of distant rumbles but nothing that got the heart pounding! There was the 2 lots of booming thunder while i was at work which shook the office. I finished work at 4:15 and it was dark, really though it was our turn. Nope! West Midlands cashed in the money in the bank (sorry wwe pun!) My son was looking forward to the thunder, i have shown him on youtube etc so he isn't scared of it. Not to worry because while he lives in Telford storms are like rocking horse poop!

not sure where Brantano shoes is, but thunder/lightning there so I've  heard

We had plenty of distant rumbles then 2 really loud booms that shook the office! Then nothing. That was your lot. Without going all 'i remember when' storms in this area are not as frequent as they use to be!

  6. I have to say it has been a truly abysmal summer i can count the amount of sunny weekends on 1 hand! I could normally balance that out by saying i had 3 weeks off in summer and saw plenty of sun, but that was non existent the 3 weeks i had off i saw 2 days sun!

This summer wont live long in my memory! Well apart from sweltering in an office all day while the jobless bums of Telford got wasted, so when your lad has an accident your waiting 4 hours because A+E was full of drunk idiots at 6pm in the evening! But thats another story.

So the sooner winter gets here the better!

  7. Nice to see some of the same places that get storms get hit with storms again today! I dont ask for much i would be happy with a 20 minute storm with some loud booming thunder. I keep joking to the wife about moving out of Telford but i think im seriouslly considering it. Lincolnshire seems a good area to move to :D !

  8. I have to agree with Conor, this has been a truly awful 'summer' i think since May we have had 2 weekends where there has been sun! Getting up on a Saturday to slate grey skies followed by a mirror image Sunday really gets you down. It really doesn't help when Monday comes and you are greeted with clear blue skies!!

Also the other moan is the lack of storms it has been a pretty poor showing around here, last time i heard thunder round this neck of the woods was May! That was a couple of rumbles from a distant cell. Last decent storm was over a year ago!

Overall rating of Summer 1/10! It only gets a 1 because it managed to stay dry during my wedding!
