Just been having a look and cherry picked this chart for next Tuesday afternoon :bomb::yahoo:
I know its a long way off and that the chances of this happening are pretty remote, but hey... Its a nice chart to look at :)

... Memo to self: Please remember that I'm still receiving counselling after the last Spanish plume event failed to deliver anything more than one poxy clap of thunder for my area :vava:

I will take that to the bank! The last plume event was a bust round here (well Telford anyway!)

  2. Well August has started off like July ended wet! I have had the week of work and yet to see a dry day. Looks like today will be the same. Really frustrating! I book this week off every year and this has been the worst weather wise!! Im back at work next week and fully expect to see the sun make its appearance again.

  3. Well what an awful July it has been, next weeks looks pretty dire so a pretty poor start to August. This has been a poor summer very little in the way of sun and warmth. Storms.. well that is a sore subject 90% of the midlands have had storms the last month or 2, we had a couple of cloud farts in May and that has been it! The one thing i will say Telford does do good with is cloud! Lovely slate grey skies from the time you get up, then if your lucky they will clear about 7pm!

I believe us Telford lot did hear a couple of bangs at some point this year

So far this year i have heard 2 bangs that was in early May i think, I heard more when i was in Blackpool in June for a week! Telford has been an appalling place for storms lately, apart from that big storm last year (best i had seen for a long time!) we really have had little in the way of storms. I remember we use to get some whoppers!

I'm not expecting anything here. We'll have 28-30C temps, 20-21C dew points and high CAPE levels but it just won't be enough to spark anything in this locale. Why is it these days that the least thundery areas of the country on average seem to be getting the most impressive storms of late? It was the same with last year's supercell over the Yorkshire Dales. Meanwhile, we had to endure this heat for nothing.

We have literally had one day of thunder this year - back in April. Not even a distant rumble sine then, let alone anything resembling a storm. I'm genuinely starting to think that this summer could be our first ever without thunder. I just don't know what it takes anymore. Either way, I'll be on here tomorrow afternoon confirming that we haven't had a thunderstorm, that much is certain.

I feel your pain! Its been like that round here, the lightning map that was doing the rounds for June a few weeks back painted a perfect picture, you could make Telford out on the map it was one of the very few places to register 0 days of thunder. Looks like we have miss out again round here as the main bulk is currently giving parts of Wales a lighy show, but if anything did happed i would still miss it because i have work soon. Hope you get to see something today :-)

Looking a little bit out of reach tonight and tomorrow for storms I have to say.

But, on the plus side, we certainly got the heat today.

...and can't complain if we miss out on the storms after all those direct hits in June,

What storms in June? That lighting map for June that was doing the rounds a few weeks back summed it up perfect for Telford it was one of the few areas around the Midlands that showed 0 days thunder in June. If i can find it i will re post it.

I am off to work in an hour so i will miss out IF anything happens! It just gets to a point of why bother, my lad is now 3 and we had that epic storm last year but he was in bed so apart from a few cloud farts he has not seen a storm in his short life!! I dont want him growing up as a child scared of the thunder, i was terrified because my mom was, so up until the age of 8 i use to hide under tables lol!

I want to take him outside and show him that the thunder is not scary. Having the opportunity to tho is the thing! Anyway thats my morning rant over.

  7. Wonder if i will still be in here by the end of the week??!! If we dont get anything in this neck of the woods tonight/tomorrow then i think its time to find a new passion Ha-Ha!

Its just so frustrating to see storms build over you then just erupt 10 miles up the road, or see something approaching on the radar then it dies a death, then 10 miles up the road comes back to life! So fingers crossed that i can have my BBQ for a few hours this evening then watch some cloud fireworks in to the night :-)

  8. Well its looks set to be the hottest day of the year, i will in sat in an office sweltering lol! Hopefully by the time i finish at 5 the sun is still shining so i can crank the BBQ up then enjoy it for a couple of hours and then watch some storms. If carlsberg did evenings that would be it lol! The reality will probably be, get home to cloudzilla, then read all about 90% of the Midlands having epic lighting etc!

by far best year for storms in many years already

and only towards end of June

Regionally maybe, its been sub par here :-( still got a couple more months to see a storm but it has been a frustrating month so far. We have seen storm's die a death as soon as they get within a few miles then see them burst back into life on the radar as soon as they have passed! This is the nature of storms but come on lol!! Today i think we are out the zone seem to be a bit too far NW.

  10. While some places have had some epic storms, here in Telford it has been pretty meh. I did hear a couple of rumbles while in Blackpool last week but that's about it! I remember when we used to get storm after storm, they would rumble on into the night. These days round here you get a rumble then the cell deteriorates, once it has past it reignites! So frustrating! We had an epic storm last year, it was the 1st decent storm to hit these parts in a couple of years! The way this year has started for some areas in the Midlands the law of averages has got to give us at least one storm to remember?! If i am still here come September then we have been very unlucky in Telford!
