  1. Goodness me i don't think i have ever seen such a heavy torrential downpour in january before, if only that was snow i bet i would of got a very good covering in only 20 minutes. it is so typical and the wind was very strong too which would of meant severe blizzards
  2. its the start of january we are no where near spring yet, even though it may feel like it at times, i cant put out some vegetables at the allotment until mid may because of frosts
  3. the GFS shows only the briefest of northerlys no true cold fan will get exicted about this run http://176.31.229.228/modeles/gfs/run/gfs-0-300.png?12
  4. Why do u always have to post these distant FI charts of High pressure ? This chart is of more concern atm http://176.31.229.228/modeles/gfs/run/gfs-0-72.png?12
  5. horribly mild day at 13c there were a few days last july that were barely warmer than this
  6. i was to young to remember 87 or 91 but the most disruptive snowfall i can remember was just last year when i had 7 inches here in bedford, which is only about 90ft above sea level, so it has been poor for snow here for most of my life, and just shows how rare deep snow is here
  7. i haven't seen any snow since it melted on the 27th december last year, i'll probably typically get some slushy stuff in march or april though,
  8. It snowed in Barcelona in March a few years ago, but i get your point that sustained snowfall is hard to get by end of feb, esp that far south.
  9. Agree even when we had turgid mild winters at least FI showed mega cold synoptics on a few occasions, this winter there have hardly been any, why is this, is it because the GFS is better now and has a good handle on futures patterns i really don't know
  10. Well mid to late feb is still ok for snow, but come march i am not interested in it as it is pointless to me, the snow will be gone by lunchtime. we always get nice summer synoptics in autumn or winter, and nice winter synoptics in spring or summer, why can't they just come at the right time of year lol. what a shock the GFS 06Z is mild zonal mild zonal mild zonal
  11. so frustrating watching the models atm churning out this zonal rubbish, that polar vortex will not shift, i bet typically we will have plenty of northern blocking in the spring or summer like the past few years have had. :wallbash:
  12. ECM is just dire, look at those dark purples around greenland at 192 216 hrs, it feels like the pattern keeps on repeating it self
  13. 15 c in Aberdeen, that is warmer than most summer days up there, what a funny climate we have, the GFS is predicting 10c for my location but we all know it under estimates temps, hopefully i can enjoy christmas with my family and try not to look out of the window too much, seeing this benign mediocre weather. what a difference compared to last year.
  14. Model watching was pretty monotonous in autumn as well with that big fat euro high.
  15. Exactly its typical that we get these charts now and not in summer, plus this autumn was euro high dominated and if we had those synoptics in summer we would of had many days of heat and thunderstorms. Also as Gavin said on the MOD thread the jet stream will probably go south next summer annoyingly and there will be loads of northern blocking just at the time of year we don't want it
  16. Is this a wind up, also significant snowfall in the south last week really ?
  17. No worries, its let down after let down for me too, though i did get very lucky last December for once, the amount of times i have felt like jacking in weather watching is countless but i can't give it up, a bit like fags.
  18. Yes it looks like it will become mild next week according to the models, but this december has not been as mild as you thought has it. GFS temps were right for my area today only 3c. not exceptional of course but jolly chilly
  19. Just because its high pressure it don't mean it will me mild, we can get an inversion which could lead to cold days and frosty nights
  20. as i speak it is sticking to cars but that is about it the 18Z NAE upgraded the snow for the home counties
  21. thanks but i was well prepared for a let down so i don't need razors loljust yucky drizzle here
