xxsnowflakexx replied to Paul Sherman's topic in Weather reports
Awoke this morning to snow on roof tops and cars but nothing remaining on the roads or pavements. I wasn't on night watch and had missed it Soon melted away completely. Then this afternoon at about 2pm we had a very light snow shower. -

Very light snow at about 5pm here in Brighton today, only lasted a few minutes. -
We recently bought 2 new little sticks (2 for £1!)to keep Rick (now known as Billy)company. They are so tiny compared to Bill, who is quite large for a stick insect.... Anyway we have now also acquired some even tinier little friends known as SEA MONKEYS. Bought from ToysRus thinking that they were some gimmick, and now turns out that they are real live little plankton like creatures, apparently related to the shrimp. These little amazing things came in a little sachet and as they were tipped into the water they started to hatch before our eyes - v v tiny. They are now 9 days old and more than double the size. Anyone else had any dealings with these strange things?

Light snow since about 4pm here in Brighton. Some large flakes, settled on cars, roofs etc. only. Lovely! -
Our Sunday afternoon trip to the garden centre turned into a more exciting venture than expected when a little somebody spied some stick insects for sale! £1 each for the cute little things. Having spoken to the sales girl, who kindly went outside to pick brambles for food, we bought the little tank and the spray bottle (to keep the tank moist). It was then discovered that the only 'sticks' left were an elderly guy with 2 legs missing(!) or a newly hatched baby that was like a tiny spider! The girl said she would need to keep the baby warm and give it extra care and we thought it could be lost on the way home so we opted for the old man, who we were given for free! As you may have guessed he's been given the name Rick, and his new home is on my son's desk in his room. He left us 14 little presents at the bottom of his tank this morning - not surprising after all the leaves he has eaten through already! I hadn't realised how interesting they are, even though it's true that most of the time they just impersonate sticks, you can see his little face and watch as he holds the leaf and chews on it - bless him. Little man is obsessed with his new little friend, and carries him around the house with him. He will ask his teacher if he can take Rick to school one day, hmm not sure what the teacher will say to that! And Fleur the cat was pleased to meet her new step brother, Rick <_< Any advice would be helpful

Well, I'm now well into my thirties! haha, thanks for the birthday wishes 'I Predict a Riot!' - my moto for me thirties! (had a great sing a long to an acoustic version of that song on Saturday after blowing out the candles!) It's not been so bad actually, after a sleepless night worrying about how I would feel it turned out ok and I feel strangely more confident, must have been some label (or perhaps a burden!) about being in twenties that has now been shaken off! The sky was indeed beautiful on the evening of my birthday (17th), gorgeous dark pinky colour. Last night's sunset (18th) was also magnificent, ablazen with dramatic deep gold and orangey colours. Such a shame I was so busy rushing home from work and couldn't get down to the sea to watch... (There is a lovely secluded little cafe right on the seafront close to me. It is an ideal sunset watching spot).. A spectacular sky is something that shouldn't be missed! Damn hectic lifestyles  Must bring myself up to date and get a camera phone, n' say good bye to my old nokia 3330! poor thing <_<

Had a lovely night out last night with friends to commiserate my impending 30th Got soooo drunk! <_< Had to leave the club an hour early, missed out on dancing time. Was funny, earlier on I had arranged to meet everyone in a little old pub, didn't realise it is now a gay bar. A few of the friends that turned up were shocked and found it a little uncomfortable, the very reason we didn't go to a gay club, because of a few prudish friends  (I had originally planned on going to the the Revenge - a fantastic gay club!). We then went to an indie pub where a guy played acoustic Jam, Pistols etc. Had such a great time and a good dance! Then on to a soul club that noone wanted to stay in - glad we had free tickets! Next stop a cheesy meat market club which I only stayed in for an hour as toooo ill! A mixed up night, bit like me. Not had such a bad hangover for years.... it was actually quite good going out to celebrate my 30th a few days before my birthday as I knew I was still in my twenties! cool

Desperately trying to make the most of the last few moments of my twenties, only a few days left  Finding it so hard to cherish these precious seconds that are so swiftly moving along <_< Any tips?!

Oh dear, I have just turned down the opportunity of a lifetime, a trip to London to be part of the studio audience at the recording of a Trisha chat show <_< I do hope this won't be one of my lifelong regrets! (actually can't stand these chat shows - although confess to loving them a few years back). Sounds quite good actually, free return coach travel directly to the studio, to and from Brighton with an hour or so after the show to look around the local area before returning home. Told not to wear black though, something to do with the cameras. I only own black clothes. Oh well, can't see myself sitting through it anyway and have other things to do, wouldn't mind going to see a live TV show one day though, as long as I don't sneeze!
