That was a surprise, the west Wirral topography worked in our favour today, I could class that as an overhead storm I suppose, plus, looking southwest, I saw some rotation, that nearly dropped a funnel, but did not succeed in the end.

Looks quite well organised from this side of the Wirral.

I saw that but I wondered if it was actually lightning in reality. as the nearest strike came up as near Prenton and Newton near West Kirby. There was some thunder around yesterday. But yes on the west side of Wirral weve generally not been so lucky in terms of overhead storms. Maybe it will change tonight. It's currently 20C with a dewpoint of 15C

The ingredients are there so here's hoping those storms hold together.

  3. Evening Stephen ,

I thought our best chance would be this evening as the sea breeze dies down. Still 22c here at the moment. We must have been a touch luckier than you on this side of the  Wirral as we've had a couple of overhead storms including the epic one on Saturday. Yesterday's storm struck a house in Thingwall setting the roof on fire.

I think things will kick off soon in NW in England. Suddenly feels right. Also if WRF is right it is around this time the sea-breeze should dissipate and  veer round to the nne.

Temperatures are still high too. Watching the showers developing over cheshire at the moment. Did you see that the positive cg in yesterdays storm struck a house in Thingwall
