GFS backing this up chart for Midday Saturday showing snow cover for most of the region, however I imagine the totals indicated in some places are way over the top, meantime like most places in the region a hard overnight frost leading into a beautiful but bitterly cold day.

    Could contain: Plot, Chart

Correct, surprised if I see a cm 😂

  2. Mod thread winds me up, people moaning that they see no precipitation on the way. Must have been frozen solid for 3 weeks before I saw a flake in 2010 and then it bucketed it down and also stayed. No idea why anyone would want a battleground scenario where the snow has left the next day and I’m certainly yet to see one that actually delivers for the northwest!

Short answer is No of course the mad thread is becoming an IMBY thread but when isn't it I would say and just my opinion Christmas day is likely to be wet more chance of getting the goods heading towards New year but hey even the professionals are unsure so I may yet have to eat my own words.

I hope you do have to eat your words but I really appreciate that your thinking of the same scenario as I am. Didn’t want to be a downer but most roads normally lead to mild.

  4. Morning all

well the model discussion thread finally turned into garbage any accurate information from the amazing posters  is like finding a needle in haystack with the moaning that’s going on.

Not sure why people are confident that this will be nailed on by Tuesday I’m sure we’ve all seen these lows track 100 miles south the night before, that’s the beauty of being in the northwest!

Hope we get pasted though I can’t quite remember a recent Christmas Day  when I couldn’t get away with wearing a t-shirt to walk to the in-laws for lunch I’m just happy that we may see a bit of frost!

Yes, even Steve Murr is getting borderline - i hate these setups - for one they always track further and further south and even if you live in the south, they end up much more inactive fronts, and if they get far enough North, they then tend to be rain.

I never get my hopes up unless there has been deep prolonged cold for a while. 1-4 degrees certainly isn’t cold weather by my standard and weather coming from the south or west never fills me full of confidence. Oh how I miss living in Berlin in winter.
