  1. so probably not the coldest May in 100 years then?
  2. Yeah great photos!! - your so lucky or rich! saw Paul's mug again on 'Natures fury - Tornado' repeat on ITV the other night, the one with the fella dressed up as an American footballer as he went out into a supercell. Keep safe!
  3. December and January was normal temp wise in Leeds...really? seems like it was fairly mild everywhere else! only February was slightly below normal although we know there are variations from region to region
  4. Just like to say thanks to Jackone for praising my accuracy on the CET prediction over the winter, always had a hunch it would be a milder than average winter but not particularly so with a cold spell 'thrown' in some where. It's the first total winter CET predictions I think I've done, so if anybody would like to PM for winter 2012/13 then I'll let you know my thoughts for a small fee! Watch me be a mile out with my CET for March!
  5. Yikes I'm late! - I'll guess at another mild one, 8.1c
  6. yes I meant the comp table over the last few months - I think I've done ok so far (just watch my March 'guess' come off the rails).
  7. where abouts can I find the league for this?
  8. One of the mildest February days I have recorded - Max Temp 17.5c, yet again we look like once we get a cold spell an equally mild or milder spell soon occurs.
  9. -7.3c here on the Essex coast which could be our coldest night for over 20 years!
  10. Not really I'm in the 1% chance of getting a black line over me!
  11. anybody got a link to a radar? any chance of me getting anyhting on the coast of Essex?
  12. Yeah that clearly shows a Greenland/HLB high and a Low coming up the channel, and for that to happen we need the high to move (which is predicted at this moment) but for undercutting to occur which hasn't happened ALL winter. - Very much doubt that will come off!
  13. -3.1c here and still 3 inches or so remaining on the ground - Peter Cockroft forescast some snow showers down the East coast tonight with the possibility of a further inch - is this true, if so rather unexpected?
  14. I think for some reason you've had somewhat thicker snow in your area and inland than out on the east coast (I know not miles away) but I do remember thinking back in December 10 after one of the snowfalls that the next day it hadn't thawed to any degree and the snow that we had walked on had become compacted due to the frost overnight and the Ice day that followed and thinking this rarely happens now days. Here in Burnham and whether it has something to do with us being on the coastline I don't know, but as soon as we get 0.1 degree above freezing a thaw sets in, as per today (but marginally).
  15. Come on mate - you know what the Beeb will say for this area, fairly cold/cold and dry with some frosts/fog. There is no signs of precip at the moment and if there was they wouldn't mention it until nearer the time.
  16. Have to agree in part - I think in Dec10' we partly had the odd day we didn't have a thaw directly after a snowfall but by in large a thaw to a degree does set in. Jan 97 and Feb 91 are good examples of snow lying for sometime without any degree of a thaw.
  17. Just thought this was the heaviest fall of snow we've had in this area since Feb 91' - shame we couldn't have temps as well like that period as I have a feeling we will get somewhat of a thaw over the next couple of days but probably not enough to melt it all.
  18. Maxed out at 1.2c here in Burnham, and temps now dropping also noticed what wind there is has now backed more of a SSE direction from the earlier SSW which can never be a bad thing. Very slight thaw this afternoon.
  19. You really do like a ramp! I don't think there is any snow forecast for the rest of this week?
  20. Burnham on Crouch: Temp: 0.2c dp: -0.5c conditions: Rather cloudy snow depth: 14/15cms
  21. Been outside and had various readings by ruler but on our driveway the average reading was between 14/15cms which is far better than Dec 10'. Temp now fractionally above freezing but only creating a very minor thaw of any snow on windows etc. Also one or two small drifts of about a foot!
  22. I should think you'll see a big difference today on how the UK looks, but much better!!
  23. Haven't been outside yet but I'd say more than 4" which is good, more than December 2010 in this neck of woods.
