Another channel low without decent cold air in place, would have been epic, cmon spring, hurry up please

Because there is consistent low pressure everywhere in the Atlantic...omnipresent low pressure near Iceland/Greenland, you're never going to get any depth of cold with LP always in that vicinity.

Also noticed the North Atlantic SST profiles is cold again which has been the case since 2013, we really need the area south of Greenland to Iceland to be warmer than average which sometimes alludes to heights being set up.

Snow was below average, icy/frosty mornings were probably above, sick of de-icing now (-4 this morning).

Plenty of cold days which seems at odds with a lot of folk though this is also true when the south of the UK has warm/hot summers and here in NE England it stays cool/cold/average most of the time.

Wow! talk about a difference, here on the Essex coast haven't recorded a single air frost all winter for the 1st time!

  3. No we haven't had plenty of cold days!! (and by that sounds like you're talking about your location)...you might 'feel' cold@sunny76 but the reality says and by that I mean statistics which back up what the UK average max and min temperatures are. Most British winters can feel cold due to wind, rain falling but going by averages we have had very few cold days. February only had 1 colder day than average (27th)...

If you don't want to feel cold I suggest moving to the Mediterranean...or hold on here as our winters are getting increasingly warmer.

I'm top of the pile for winter then - so people need to officially listen to all of my forecasts and predictions in the model thread from now on

Seriously though, what a rubbish winter. We've set the bar so low that next year can't possibly be as bad!

I was top last winter (for the winter quarter)...and 7th this year, December did me over, I got carried away with the last minute mumblings on here of a coldish December and should have stuck to my guns and put my CET down about .0.5c.

You must be blind, if you are not aware of how many cloudy days we’ve received in London the the south east during some summers.

Let me remind you we do not live in the Mediterranean and we have the vast Atlantic to the west which holds a lot of moisture and has always been the way of the UK's climate, but of recent summers we haven't always experienced Tm air but also drier Cm air at times due to the increasing presence of high pressure to the south...

and by the way you're talking as if every August is poor which again is not the case in our part of the world.

And summer is one long dull cloud fest at times. I hope we don’t have another one of those years.

What an absolute load of rubbish!...certainly if you live in the south or south east of England you know this simply isn't true, since approximately 2013 give the odd exception (usually Augusts and last summer June) our summers have improved to a degree.
