  1. Well its been snowing since 9:30pm here in Camden Town, Central London. Temp dropped quickly and snow has been falling slowly and now its coming down fast and heavy. Even in places where rain has fallen, some snow is starting to settle. However I don't think we'll have a full covering; hopefully I'm wrong though. At least we got something out of this.
  2. Still very lightly snowing in Central London. I wouldn't be surprised if some places get around 13cm. Going sledging and making snowment 2marrow with my family. Gonna be so much fun.
  3. I'm not talking about other parts of the country - I'm talking about Central London alone. And I'm talking from my experience alone too. I bet there were other parts of the country that had a heck ofalot more than London, but for Central London, a city where the buildings and people create heat which melts snow quickly, this is a rare event IMO.
  4. Febuary 2nd 2009 December 18th 2010 And now January 20th 2013 will now be my memory as one of the great snowfalls that London has had! Been snowing almost all day, in light and haevy falls, snow flakes turning big at times. Parks and even roads in Central London have been coated with beautiful white snow cover, snow sticking to traffic lights and staues with abitter cold -1c windchill! Still snowing now in Central London very lightly. We must have recieved up to 10cm of snow so far and its still rising. Fridays snowfall pales in comparison. Best Snow Day EVA!!!
  5. We'be certainly hit the jackpot today, hav'nt we? Been snowing for a few hours in central London and have already around 5cm. Constantly falling out of the sky in moderate outbursts. So happy!
  6. Well it's really been a long day here in Central London - Snow started around 9:30a.m. and been on for a long steady time chnaging between light, very light, moderate and heavy. Everything covered with around 5cm of snow and its still falling. -1c at the mo too. And more is still to come.
  7. Had light snow/sleet through the evening in central London and then BOOM on around few mnietues ago, snow turned moderate!! Round 2! Ding Ding!!
  8. Well snow stopped about an hour ago, temps dropping and snow and wet places freezing over in Central London. Total about 5cm here. Could be another snow event on Sunday for the South-east so those who didn't see anything today, there is still hope later down the line.
  9. BBC London are predicting more "Heavy Snow" for my area around 3:00p.m. in the afternoon and 7:00p.m. in the eveing. All subject tyo change of course though, but still, awesome!
  10. Still coming down in Central London from moderate to heavy at times. Got a nice covering but not sure how much I got. I think its harder to get a covering Central London, what with all the people walking on it and the heat from the buildings. Still its set to continue in the evening and possibly night so I'M AS HAPPY AS CAN BE!
  11. Even heavier in Central London now! I guess the old saying is true: "Those who are pattient, will recieve" or something to that affect. Best. Day. EVA!!!!
  12. Well the flakes in Central London are heavier now and BBC Weather predicted "Heavy Snow" at 1:00p.m. so you should start to see it soon. Snow is blowing in the wind, big flakes, Temp -2c, Dew - -2.2c
  13. Heavy 50p flakes of snow just arrived in Central London!! BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Well we have a real snow event on our little island right now, don't we? Here in Central London we have some persistant downpours here, with the snow moderating at times. I think we have about 3cm so far and I think its going to continue all through the night (I'm not complaining! ) BBC Weather website predicting "Heavy Snow" at 1:00p.m.! Yay! Enjoy the snow everyone!!
  15. Dear god, I hope this GFS 18z run is an outlier! BBC still showing 24 hour snow for London. I just hope Central London gets a covering from this; I haven't seen one flake of snow settle so far!!
  16. Well it's been a mixed day here really in North-West Central London, with snow early in the morning (I didn;t see it though) and on and off rain/slett and snow. So I'm a happy bunny really! Hopefully the dew points will be low enough for it to snow tonight. Fingers crossed we see more white stuff in are part of the country.
  17. I must say, the overall mood in todays forums are really "doom and gloom". As a "Coldie" fan and seeing the easterly the GFs and ECM were predicting a few days gone now vanished from our eyes, I too feel really dissapointed and absolutley de-heartened. But we must remember, it is still only December 7th people! We still have the rest of the month and Jan/Feb to look forward to! And most cold winters didn;t occur until AFTER Christmas time (1962/1963 anyone?). So far I'm concenred, theres still much more to look forward to. Like I said, I'm dissapointed about the vanished Easterly, but like GP and Chinco (and others of the like) have pointed out, there is still much more to look forward to further down the line. So lets stop with all the moaning and groaning and lets keep it positive for the next batch of runs to come out. Roll on the 18z...
  18. This is all too good to be true!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn;t believe what I was seeing in front of me. I'm speechless.
  19. New to the forum!! All aboard the Easterly Express!!
  20. Good morning everyone. New to the site and hoping for a cold winter. Well it seems as though we are in a real cold snap at the moment huh? (Which I and many others on this site are happy for. lol) Temps between 0c - 2c nationwide at the monet feeling crsip and cold. I actually woke up early just to walk the cold 0c London streets with clear blue skies and the sun rising from the horizon wearing my winter coat and hat. I think we should all be happy that we've got such conditions and temps currently 9I shiver thinking back to last winter and how we all glared at the GFS model output of zonal mild muck - Winter shouldn't have temps of 16c!!). I say enjoy it while it lasts - go out, enjoy it cause it seems some more milder temps are coming in on Monday. I hope you all make me feel welcome. Warp up warm. ~mpkio2~
  21. Hey everyone! Even though I joined this site back in january,I'mstillanewmemberas this is my very first post. Like most of you,Iam looking forward to a very cold and very snowy winter(Unlike the dissapointedmild yucky winter weexperienced last year - gusse you can't win them all, eh?). I've been reading all posts from theprevious "Winter 2012/2013" threads (Well done everyone for getting to a third thread -and it's only October! )and I have enjoyed reading everyones predictions, hopes, wants and theories of what this winter may bring us - many smart people on here with some very interesting articles - GP, chinco just to name a few. I see we have some favourable synoptics on our side this timeround (Unlikelast year aroundthis time). I wasjust woundering if anyone could update meon where every thing stands thus far- is QBO still going east? Still in ENSO? NAO and AO state? What about MetO probability charts - still for a colder than average winter? Also, I know the CFS chops and cahnges on evry run,but I hope the weather gods are on our side this year and something like the CFS 12z 3r oct run comes off! That would be an awesome early winter! Another thing, the CFS had been pointing out on almost every run that the UK will be under a lowpressure system around the 4th-8th oct- it came true. Just to point out that it's allabout looking for trends in this model.
