The GFS and NAE are a joke, I will not worry until UKMO and ECM are on board and I doubt that that will happen
-
Army will be on standby and a national state of emergency called if the ECM 144 comes off, incredible chart
-
The army will be on standby I expect, IF this comes off it is an event no one under 25 has experienced in their lifetime
-
Wow amazing charts, the country will be literally cut off if those come to fruition, COBRA will be meeting next couple of days surely
-
Surrey area for example is and has always been crap with frontal snow especially from the west, what we really need is a Thames streamer as they always deliver
-
With all the will in the world its not going to deposit 6" of snow anywhere in our region!
A few lucky spots may get a couple of cm. It is a dying system and we are too far South to feel any benefit from any energy its pulling from the N.Sea.
Disagree, when it sucks up the moisture from the Thames it will really pep up IMHO
-
Could that really happen? Total novice here.
Am a novice too but a fella few pages earlier got 6 inches tonight in Norfolk and that band heading towards south east
-
Am surprised there has not been an orange alert for tonight's coming snow, given it has dispatched 6inches over Norfolk and is programmed to head straight for London and Surrey it has the potential to deliver that and more, real disruptive snow
-
Given that that band is carrying a 6" payload huge parts of the SE are going to wake up to a nice surprise tomorrow IMHO
-
Erm.........seeing as they are the experts, I think they probably have.
NAE have called it best in this spell, way better than METO
NAE updates say Cheshire Gap will reach the SE and the wrap around will reach west London
NAE > METO
-
The met office have updated, they only expect kent to get a few showers tonight so dont get excited
One for the bin tbh
They haven't factored in the Cheshire Gap or the wrap around
-
But there are a few minors on here and Amatures that would go into melt down if they saw a post like that
lol fair point
Any chance that stuff heading down the Cheshire Gap will come into play? juicy stuff to put it mildly
-
Yes it did, but it might not happen...You need to keep an eye on the radar..And pray. 6" Is way to much... 5CM would be pushing it IF it came off. And Surrey would be a bit touch and go being that far west...IF the wind and temps are perfect then maybe it might. But don't give people high hopes, because it fills the forum with crap when it don't happen. But I admire your up beat spirit
I don't think it gives people hope though tbh, if Steve Murr or TEITS said it then I would agree but I am just an enthusiast so I doubt anyone would take my predictions (the operative word) as gospel
-
The wrap around will get going for us after 9pm and i think will hold a few suprises for some..... That thames estuary is quite warm, when that band hits it (with uppers getting nudged to -7/-8/-9c) we may hit the jackpot......
Nail on head, that's what I mean, the band will pep up as it soaks up the moisture of the Thames Estuary
-
Mate, no offence...But what are you basing this on? It has not even happened yet..I am sure if 6" was in the forecast the met would be giving amber warnings..
Hope casting but the wrap around looked pretty juicy on that fax chart
-
Guys and girls, please do not feel down about today...We knew it was going to be close..We got spoilt last night.
Now look forward to crisp winters mornings and frost
As ever..Snow can pop up any time so radar and model watching
The wrap around is still to come
Large parts of Kent, Essex and Surrey will get 6inches IMHO
-
The wrap around should produce the goods later and deliver several inches to large swathes of the south east but the precip arriving early was unhelpful, if it has arrived after dark it would have been much better
-
remote i should thii should think...that pivot, got kent/east ang writen all over it..
Thanks, yeah seemed a long shot, hopefully a couple of inches this afternoon with the elevation the downs has
-
I will be in Epsom area tonight, any likelihood of the wrap around bringing a few inches there?
-
Disagree London-Snow
I think tomorrow will be all snow except on the coasts, 5-10cm throughout, maybe 15 in sweet spots
I also predict a Thames streamer before the week is out
-
They don't call the GFS 18z the pub run for nothing
METO and ECM will be showing snow fests in the morning
Chill
-
Impossible for so much to change in one run
This is well and truly a run that belongs in the bin, overplaying the warm sector and the speed the front travels through
Horse onions
-
ECM a massive upgrade in terms of snow potential and an easterly in midweek
Hopefully a Thames streamer as part of the easterly
-
Need Yamkin to come on here announcing the council have been informed there is going to be 8" of snow on Monday, the moaners in this thread can hopefully dry their eyes then

I have an aunt in Redditch who I have not visited in a good while, am thinking it might be time for a family reunion up there this weekend
