A foot of snow? I thought we were expecting 8-10cm as an average in the south east (I am in Braintree & work in London), which dont get me wrong is a nice amount and would surly cause disruption in its own right.....but thats quite a bit short of a foot, which would be like the day after tomorrow senario in the SE!!
What are you basing the foot of snow on?
The front stalling over London and the south east, I love snow but I remember the last time the met underestimated a big snow event in the London region that December and it was a mad house trying to find a hotel for the night when I couldn't get home :o
I think a foot is a bit of an over estimate but with snow also predicted on Tuesday that there could well be a cumulative foot of lying snow in many areas by mid week
At least a foot! that would be good to see but dont think we will get that much.
Plus us inThanet would be happy with a 12th of that.
I am a snow lover more than a John Holmes or Steve Murr weather expert but I think the effect on the south east is being grossly underestimated, call it a gut feeling

Surprised the Met Office are being so casual about this event
It could well shut down much of the UK including London so to be so laid back about it all doesn't give people time to be prepared, especially commuters, who may not get home on Monday evening but haven't made any alternative plans because the Met Office are so laid back about all this
Much of the south and south east is going to get at least a foot of snow

I am surprised that this thread is so quiet given there is supposed to be a snow event today!

If nothing comes of this northerly blast the GFS is showing in FI then it is game over IMHO
You can get snow in March and April but the sun is too strong to make it last and give a sustained arctic blast
If you want 4" overnight and melted by 2pm then winter has 2 months left, if you want a severe blast (nov/dec 2010) there is 1 shot left

Any plans to buy a new server? This one is useless
I know a good hosting company

Given disruptive snowfall is forecast for a large chunk of the country it is strange how there are not orange warnings out for snow
-
Lettuce me has the snow been messing up the server? Keep getting timeouts all the time

Front is definitely slowing down, close to stalling, hardly moved between 11.30 and 12 on met office radar

I think the totals are being heavily underestimated
I think higher ground in areas like Surrey and Sussex will get upwards of a foot of snow and Kent, Essex, East Anglia even more.

That still means 70% chance of a very disruptive event
