What about essex?
No idea sorry, but seems to have a touch of Feb 2009 about it so similar areas I guess but am not an expert
-
The precip is definitely back building and heading west
If that stuff over Belgium arrives down the estuary could well be another 20cm from Kent to west Surrey
-
You're not serious are you? This snow's getting to some people's heads!
He said that it would back build and that easterly s would shift that stuff from Belgium over to th south east, given the extraordinary scenes in Wallington and Croydon tonight and the fact the western edge had cleared those areas an hour ago how is he wrong?
The front is back building and looks like the stuff from Belgium is traveling through the estuary so more several inches of snow likely tonight IMHO from Croydon westwards to about Guildford
-
Surrey has earned every right to be talked about in the same breath as John Pike and Steve Murr
He said that the precip would back build and head back west again and looks like he has called it spot on
-
If that stuff from Belgium heads into the UK the depths would be feet not inches across whole of south east
-
Blizzards?? Yeah right. Please Google definition.
My definition of blizzard is a period of heavy intense snow, need wind yes for it to be a true blizzard but heavy intense snow could count as semi blizzard conditions?
-
What??
Must be trolling.
All green on the radar right the way from Reigate to Eastbourne and beyond and heading due north
4"+ in that payload surely?
-
Area of blizzards heading straight up from Eastbourne, looks like south London and Epsom, Dorking, Reigate, Leatherhead, Wimbledon, Kingston etc going to get many inches of snow in the next few hours
-
Right well now the whole lot will start to shift northwards, so the further west you are in the zone the less time you'll have in the snow. Kent and Essex probably still have a good few hours. Focus after 15z switches to EA and maybve far northern parts of this region.
Probably been moderate snowfall here for the last 30 minutes after a fairly slow but steady first few hours.
Surrey said that all the stuff in Germany and Belgium is heading west so surely that will move directly west over the South London / Surrey / West London region?
-
Strange how there has been no orange warnings put up on the met office site given the length the snow is due to last and possible depths
-
Lol I wouldnt have thought that much could push 6 out of this which would bring on the crass to 15CM
I live in the wrong part of Surrey lol. Thought with elevation Epsom Downs would get battered but it's about 4/5 on the Murr scale
-
Yep 2CM more here coming down nicely!
Looks like another 12cm or so for you today then, unreal, real snow magnet Thorpe is :o
-
Mate seriously - no chance of those totals widely.
Disagree
It's moving west not east so the stuff Germany was copping is heading towards UK
Also the intensity was underestimated
12hrs of moderate snow to me is 6in, add in heavier bursts...
-
2-4cm the weathermen said? looking like 15-20 across the entire SE region as far out as M3 regions with some lucky places in the east hitting 30cm judging by this radar
-
Thanks
I predict a slight shift west, 50miles or so
-
Can we have a new thread please?
66 pages is a nightmare to load on iOS
-
Surprised there is not an orange or even a red warning for tomorrow tbh, that front is tasty even right now and once it intensifies over the channel it should bring some very disruptive snowfall. More so than yesterday
-
There is only one place the GFS 18z belongs and that is the bin
Complete and utter horse manure
-
WOW http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/ecmwf.php?ech=72&mode=1&map=0&type=0&archive=0
That can't happen, can it !?! If I was running a business I would be praying for the GFS.... This could be serious for the uk with a serious impact on GDP as people stay at home. Part of me hopes we don't get quite as much snow as the ECM suggests over the next 10 days while the other half shouts BRING IT ON we can work in the spring lol
Indeed, the country would literally shut down if ECM came off, just hope there is enough soldiers after the cuts to deal with the aftermath
-
What time does the 12z usually roll out?
-
WOW! look at the synoptics for TUES.
Don't talk of downgrades!!!!!
The cold spell continues!
Too far out to get excited IMHO
Given the last min changes to Monday and Friday event FI to me starts at 48hrs
-
Chances of GFS 12z correcting the Precip further West with the Block Holding out ?? Who Knows atm not even the Meto
Place your bets and I will collate them all and see who were the winners and losers
Precip Back West (Downgrade) = 4/6
Precip Further East or stays the Same = 5/4
Come on then show us what you feel, could be fun at 430pm
Going with Precip back further West for me at 4/6 Fav
The 6Z and 18Z GFS are notorious for having things more east than actually happens?
12Z and 0Z are the ones I take more seriously
Prediction - precip back west by 50-100 miles
-
Piers corbyn has updated to say double the amount of snow farcasted on t.v !
Is that the nutcase from the Express?
Better off getting a gypsy to read some tea leaves and make a prediction, just as reliable as Piers
-
Yes good point. That is only one model isn't it? We surely can't say it's 100% right over all others right at this point in time can we?
GFS has been hopeless recently, their predictions ever since December have been very wide of the mark
NAE called Mondays stuff perfectly but they are only ever any good on the day itself, 3 days out they are as reliable as Mystic Meg

No idea, need Steve, John or Surrey to give their take on it tbh but everything seems to be back building and shifting west
