  1. Family in Chorleywood with lovely snow, Essex family with snow inbound....radar shows it sneaking like a snail towards the Neots and guess where the band is starting to fragment on the radar... c'mon you bugger, get up here now and stall!!
  2. Today seems to be the day, definitely noticed the extra light this evening, albeit marginal. Mid to end of Feb is when it normally starts to really notice but was uplifting today to see the difference. Strange how preferences change over a lifetime, I used to love the seasons and the difference in light over the year - darkness was 'cosy', well not anymore, I can't bear the lack of light since about that age of 30, conversely I can't stand sunshine at 4am!! Late Spring & early Autumn sunrise/sets are the best times imo.
  3. BBC forecast just now was definitely showing snow further North than the earlier one but no change with the met office... has something changed, this area is almost looking like being in on the action now...
  4. I'm going to be on the fringe again here arent?!Still, saw some snow today and west ham won again... not sure what I did to please the Gods this weekend! coyi!
  5. Snow fixed for next 2 years, shame my toddler decided to nap so still not seen snow but I'm good til 2023 now. All over!
  6. Actual snow flakes, started like hail bouncing but some genuine 6 siders! .
  7. Looking like being grazed once again a mile or two in it as usual looking st the radar. Can the weather deflector hold out here...
  8. Not the greatest of locations for weather here is it, everything interesting seems to just skirt around the edge whilst nearby get the storms/snow. 3 years here and it's so consistent I've been trying to work out if it's a topographical feature somehow but it's so flat here i cant see how. Very odd, in my 30 years of following the weather it's quite an anomaly. And soooooo frustrating. Had sleet last night though- steps forward.... And for the 100th time we are just on the edge of a warning again. Is it Spring yet?
  9. Just sleet here in St Neots, an improvement as technically I've seen some snow flakes finally . Another ex member of the BBC snow watch/weather forums and been on and off under different user names here since about 04, where does the time go eh?
  10. Said it a few times over the years now but there are far too many warnings over not a lot and backside covering, my family and friends who aren't a weather geek like me just ignore them now which is dangerous because when there may be some genuinely tricky weather they will ignore it.
  11. Why do we have weather warnings on the met and the bbc making reference to them, yet the graphics show negligible rain (comparatively) for the South East, can they not just apply logic and reality to the very same graphics they're presenting? Most of today and tomorrow looking drizzly at best on the latest 'forecast'. Week in week out this sort of stuff happens now.
  12. Went there for my stag do right in the middle of the Beast from East days, needed more than a beer jacket out and about, never experience such intense cold before or since! Amazing.
  13. Can you add in thunderstorms in summer and wind events too? Will be nice to reminisce.
  14. Woohooo, woken up to see some accumulations of rain, 2 years and waiting to see a single flake. Fantastic climate we have these days
  15. For you maybe, for me it was dire once again, a few scraps.
  16. Minus 6 last night, 2c today, current precipitation = rain. Cant thunder in summer, can't snow in winter, once again into the waiting for years zone for some measly snow. Other than the recent floods here (rare in the cambs desert) almost nothing exciting weather wise since I moved here 3 years ago, what a boring cr*p hole for a weather enthusiast. NY resolution is to quit this 'hobby'once and for all. Oh for the old days.
  17. Googling this gives a lot of answers including late September need not be precluded but it generally applies to October and November (vague and therefore September still applies) and some claim you need to have an air frost (again vague) but there are no concrete definitions that I can find. I didn't realise this was actually a reference to Native American harvest planning, interesting reading.
  18. Yeah built in unit for me- I've lived in 3 houses now that get disgustingly hot from April to October (and in peak heat the bedroon would not go below 30c all night), so much so that as well as bugger all sleep when its really hot I'd get nose bleeds too. After years and years of it I took the plunge. Bliss.
  19. Been out all day today as refused to give in to the weather due to long held outdoor plans but my god it was a challenge, especially with a 13 month old - it was actually 10.9c here at one point during daylight hours with howling winds and rain, incredible stuff. As for Summer 2020- successfully dodged almost all lightning once again in what was a thundery summer for so many, too hot, too cold, too little of useable 22-26c type days, basically quite rubbish. 4/10.
  20. Was a beauty indeed, I didn't see much lightning but the rain was epic, the thunder decent and the drama fantastic plus still got a few nice bolts thrown in for good measure but sadly no pics though i did try. I wish there more days like today, this is what it's all about, action!!
