  1. Topped out at 40.2c. That's the last time I want to see 40c thanks (will be back in a few years no doubt).
  2. Wow, there it is, 40.0c and just gone to 40.1c as I type. Incredible
  3. Seem to be stuck on 39.7c here which would be cruel!
  4. Just stepped out for a lunchtime stroll and feel like I've been popped in a fan assisted oven, just need spuds and Yorkshire's! Massive breeze, surely mixing the air and would be even hotter if still? Bitter sweet, I'm fascinated by breaking records but sad that our climate is screwed and no one needs to be this hot surely? Orrid
  5. That's insane, surely we're looking at nearly mid 40's based on that?
  6. Up 5c in just under an hour - never seen anything like it - 28.4c already
  7. 3.5c higher than this time yesterday. Linear trend suggests 41.4c as the max here. Ouch.
  8. still a balmy 25.2c. Bed beckons and a record breaking day ahead. Again.
  9. Still 30.9c here in St Neots. Tomorrow is definitely looking like 40c + at this rate - I'll plump for 40.7c
  10. It's transparent there wasn't humour in that post. Anyway, enjoy your pants
  11. It's quite clear that extreme is relative to the prevailing climate - 20c at the North pole would be extremely warm whilst at the equator may be a tad cool. It is subjective too but a post stating its not extreme when today I recorded 37.9c which is 2nd to the Uk record (and my own), it is extreme from a statistical and relative point of view. Saying you'll eat your pants is inflammatory and suggests anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool or similar - that's how it comes across. Glad you're enjoying the heat and you're entitled too, make the most of it if's your cup of tea.
  12. I'll bet you now we see 40+ again within 5 years. The changes I've seen in 35 years of weather watching are vast- hotter, less snow, less thunder, more cloud and less variaton overall with more and more longs runs of dry periods and occasional wet. Its changed dramatically imby's imo.
  13. Thundery looking skies tonight but nothing like that for a couple of days yet. There is a shower above me though with just virga, not experienced that too often, it's truly like the desert today. Edit: now a few drops falling, I wasnt expecting any rain today. A paltry amount but I'll take it. Lovely cloudscapes around now with that altocumulus catellanus thundery look.
  14. Showers just to my North, were they in the forecast??
  15. 37.9c was the unofficial max here just now, now on the drop.
  16. Slowing down a lot now and at 36.3 (humidity not calibrated), quite a few clouds bubbled up in the last 30 mins
  17. 33.8c in St Neots from 19.9c at 8am -quickest rise I've ever seen -I think we're in with a shout of the record here (tomorrow maybe!). I unofficially recorded 38.9c 3 years ago so given the proximity to Cambridge of this town I still think I hold the current record
  18. So did I. Stopped clock and all that though. Going on recent heatwaves it will go out with a fizzle whilst the continent lights up.
  19. I had a fully fitted one in my last house and have just moved- first big change has been having 2 installed this time, I feel the heat easily especially at night so it just makes sense. I use it for 6 months a year and these days are when it comes into it's own. Well worth the money to avoid all this heatwave carp.
  20. No its not, the temperature scale doesnt start at 0c.
