  1. Towers, towers, everywhere and nor any drop nor bolt to....enjoy. The ceraunophiles' tale (in these here lands at least).
  2. That's fantastic! I was a 15 year old back in Essex experiencing it - it was something else, I keep thinking I want to see something like it again but it was terrifying even though I love a storm!
  3. Looks to be heading north east though? The western flank looks to be much lighter unless its due to beef up.
  4. All over in a very short space of time, standard summer fayre of the past, a few flashes, a few rumbles and a proper downpour.
  5. First rain in 40 days and my word what a deluge, drains bursting everywhere, flooded roads and even a little bit of thunder thrown in. Praise the Lord.
  6. Cambridgeshire supercell alley??? Yeah right, more like death Valley. Lucky to get a few bolts a year here.
  7. No rain since 9th May for me, missed all the storms by a whisker again last week, could see the anvils, the desert conditions prevail as per seemingly every year now. Desperate for some rain/relief/God forbid some storms. The forecast for Sunday is no storms here, guaranteed.
  8. 2nd day running I'm on the edge of the huge storms and can see the anvil right in front of me yet remains sunny, hot and dry here as per ad infinitum. St Neots is atrocious for storms - both the graveyard and the spawn site for everywhere else. I give up.
  9. I've seen 1 bolt of lightning about 5 meters long and heard 3 rumbles all within 5 mins of each other. First let down of the year is well and truly on again this weekend. Same old story zzzz
  10. Have all the articles for this disappeared from here? I was looking for more information on this storm on Google and brought back to good old netweather!
  11. I've also called it the lid for many a year! Just as I see it too. There are the tiniest of blue holes here and there now, who knows, maybe we'll be treated today!
  12. Just back from a relativey finally warm and sunny london to the cloudy fridge. The joy
  13. Haha, very true! I think everyone obviously has their own perspective and it's all relative to our own experiences - we've all heard people mention "the good old days"... never thought that would be me but here we are
  14. Funnily enough, that's the year I have in mind too as when it all really started going to pot, I really don't like most of modern life and feels like it gets worse more rapidly now, I genuinely worry for my very young children. Perhaps it's the mid 40s age effect but I'd gladly live in the older days.
  15. Precisely, I've said it before years back on here but the weather I grew up with (rose tinted perhaps), had seasons, we had varied weather, all 4 seasons in 1 day was the expression, night time storms, day time storms, snow, wind, rain, plenty of variety throughout the year and on a regular basis, now its relentless locked in patterns of either wet or dry (30 days of dry was it last year and about 2 weeks again now) and for me at least a huge lack of interesting weather -did we even have 1 named storm last winter? I've had a single tiny bolt of lightning to hold on to this entire year( thunderstorms have definitely declined, their are finally some articles out there on it), it's a daily monotony and I'm convinced we have more cloud these days, it's such a dreary climate. In a few weeks it will go from this to 38c for a week of hell. Just a sunny few days, 25-28c and a storm is all I ask. And repeat. Add to the backdrop of the way the world is now.... give me a time machine to the 80/90s please.
  16. Pure filth once again, 11c and yet another grey lid to add to the ever increasing count of them over the years. Heating coming on inside, cold breeze, coat on and shivering outside. Eons of boredom as ever. Too much to ask for a warm thundery low these days. Dry, cloudy and chilly, the ever present, what a dump hole this country has become and not just from a weather point of view. If only I could move to Croatia or somewhere interesting which is almost anywhere else now. On the brink.
  17. Agreed, since moving to Cambridgeshire 6 years ago from Essex (where i used to think i was storm starved but nothing compared to here), I have to say I see storms mostly avoiding this area, yet I was under the impression that it was one of the stormiest parts of the country so it's been a big let down! Down the road in Bedford though, young Zak seems to get 30 storms a year with that long lens of his
  18. Taking the kids out to a miniature train, go to the park, bubbles, rockets, lunch outside, ice cream and apply after sun tonight!
  19. Exactly this. I've seen them before insisting that thundery showers would die out (having been forecast that very morning) when there hadn't been a single storm anywhere in the UK. The inability to say we are wrong is what grates.
  20. Still cloudy... May break soon but wow this weekend is one of the worst forecast for some time. 2 days of relative warmth and sun has turned into cloudy and putting the heating on.
