  1. You can definitely make it up, it's happened multiple times every winter for the last 2 decades of being around this forum, its why I gave up getting into the models over a decade ago. Past a few days, stopped clock, etc, etc.. same in summer re storms.
  2. Seems storm '87 was a trigger for weather interest for many of us here including me! I was 8 and living in Romford Essex at the time and awoke to what I initially thought was the sea and waves slamming against the house, it was so loud and hissing/roaring/banging, I was terrified. Then there was the constant flashing alongside this which I thought was power lines not lightning but could be wrong. Looking out the window all we could see was destruction, bricks flying down the road, trees and walls coming down, just madness. Next day was incredible for me, with all the trees down I collected sacks of conkers- back in the day conkers were almost like currency in the playground! Scenes of devastation will stay with me forever. '87 was quite a year as the epic snow that year was also fascinating.
  3. Woken up to a surprise storm as I'm sure have many.... captured my only lightning strike this year but well chuffed, what a beauty and was very close!! Wish it could have been a good season, it was terrible but I'll take the last hurrah, thanks finally weather Gods. 20230918_020859.mp4
  4. It did, right at the end there you can see it becoming a white out and we had to pull over as it got more intense, couldn't see even a couple of meters away, quite something!
  5. The rain earlier is the heaviest I've seen, the end of this video is the start of the most incredible deluge (and I've seen a few!). 20230910_143740.mp4
  6. Still no lightning all year other than a pal try bolt but just driven through biggest downpour and hail.... ironically though hail weston! back to st neots and can hear constant roar of thunder to the north west where i have just come from. I've just missed it again despite being in it lol. 20230910_143858.mp4
  7. It is when you're under an overcast sky and constant nagging wind sitting still, people all around wrapped up tight!
  8. Sitting here in green Park London on my lunch break and my fingers are going numb, a first for me in July. Yesterday was like November, today like an early spring day. Atrocious month overall and year really. 1 tiny bolt of lightning all year, another season drifts past as a complete dud on many fronts. Zzzz
  9. I am the ultimate walking storm shield, its unreal, just back from visiting my mother in Basildon hospital, 10 mins after I leave a storm develops right overhead there, back here in the desert nothing as per, still utterly sod all all year but once again when I've been working in London yep st neots gets it and when wfh vice versa. The utter rage at missing an isolated storm 10 mins after being there. Why me, how me.
  10. Thanks matey, I have seen that before as I think I've googled the 94 storm to death to be fair!! Not seen anything like it since so often revisit both in memory and online. Bit sad yes.
  11. Bit surprised to be woken by 3 rumbles at 5 am, thought any action was later, did it kick off early and that's my lot?
  12. More than happy to get some steady rain/ downpours, preferably in the form of a storm but dry grey lids or drizzle. Disgusting. 3 warm sunny days, big storm, rinse and repeat please. Maybe I need to move to the tropics.
  13. I've had 1 day of rain since 9th May (thats 50 days), every storm passes just by, every front fizzles just before us, this is happening annually now too. As I type yet another front dies before getting here. This particular location has a micro climate, I despise it. For someone who loves variety it's an ongoing ordeal, I think a move to another part of the country has to be the long term plan.
  14. Completely understand, I have 2 units and the whole house is cooled, one on through the night on low, I invested 6 years back after suffering terribly for 3/4 months every year for decades. £100 a year for the relief to me is well worth it. There is the initial cost of course but again worth it as it's been life changing for me.
  15. Even in these pricey times my air con cost about a £1 a day to run, well worth it.
  16. Haha every time I'm right on the very edge and same again with this one!! How does that happen? Quite surprised to see the risk so far south compared to recent forecasts, is there any chance of it squeezing a bit further south?
  17. The best thunderstorm in my 44 years... don't think I'll ever see it matched now.
  18. What's worse is when you live right on the edge of the action, can see it unfurl but it stays away time and time again. Torturous.
  19. Mini storm in the end an hour or so ago with 2mm of rain. 2/10. Next please.
  20. Lovely big flash and boom! Going away from me though
  21. Another day of watching the same places get the same set up - very dark now in front of over Biggleswade way, I can see the deluge... bone dry once again here. Must be a geographical feature around here to deflect most storms!
