  1. Looking at the latest radar (00:15) the intensity of the rain has dropped off massively within a short space of time! Still very intense in parts of North East Wales & Cheshire.
  2. I've had this frustration for many years with regards to these flash amber warnings. The only one in recent times I can remember them being right on the money on was the snowfall of December 17th 2010 (Friday night), an amber warning was issued at tea time roughly about 5pm & the snow arrived about 7:30pm and dropped over a foot before petering out at roughly 2:30am. Apart from that its been epic fail after epic fail from the Met Office for our area in my book.
  3. Met Office amber warning for the North West is only valid from 00:05 Sunday morning also, isn't it bad enough now to be valid straight away? (Scratches head). I think the case with the Met Office is that they issue these flash amber warnings long after the horse has bolted so to speak.
  4. Another poor decision by the Met Office to issue an amber warning for that area in my opinion.
  5. In all fairness that was the main concern regarding this particular event.
  6. Thunder & Lightning reported by a few people in the Greater Manchester area about an hour ago. I didn't observe any myself however, must have been too far west to see it!
  7. If it hangs around overnight at this intensity there's going to be a lot of rivers under pressure, the water is just running off the surface because of how dry it's become. I expect many more flood warnings to be issued in the North East as the night develops & a few issued in the North West also.
  8. Same here. Looks like there could be some very impressive rainfall accumulations once this has moved through. Seems to be slowing down as well.
  9. I thought that about 30 minutes ago but then decided it was just wishful thinking! Still keeping my fingers crossed though!
  10. Just studying the latest few frames of the radar and its actually breaking up on its leading edge as it's reaching Cheshire! There's a big hole opened up with precipitation either side.
  11. It's a sad state of affairs isn't it, you've got to laugh otherwise you'd end up crying! lol
  12. Nothing to report here as yet apart from its looking dark to the south & to the east.
  13. Like I said the other day if they issue an Amber warning anywhere in the UK with the exception of the North West of England they're usually proved right. If they issue one for the North West of England it very rarely comes to fruition.
  14. I think this could very well be the case. Certainly a turn up for the books if this holds true!
  15. Surely if it reaches the West Midlands it's current trajectory would take it up in to the North West England over the Pennines & up through North East England?
  16. We live in hope! Might go up Billinge Hill tonight to see if I can catch any sheet lightning.
  17. Our friends at The Daily Express are at it again...... https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/360856487490379776/photo/1
  18. Reports of a Funnel Cloud near Glasgow on Twitter, Bothwell & Uddingston apparently.
