19.8°C now with the heating being off for a while. Might start seeing some lower indoor temperatures whenever the heating isn't on soon now we're finally losing the mild weather.

Don't think I've seen continuous rain for this long, this intense in winter before. Usually reserved for the warmer seasons. The roads are flooded everywhere.
Certainly been an interesting start to the year here, with Tuesdays storm as well.
I thought that earlier. Had been inside for a while without a window so didn't know how heavy the rain had been until I came out to se what seemed more like torrential rain you'd get in heavy showers.

Lots of flooding on the way back from Southampton just now. Not seen it like that for a long time.

yes it is madness all of this rain going to be alot of flooding i think.
Already is from what I've seen so tomorrows rainfall really isn't what's needed. Only good thing is it's the last of the rain for a while so things might have a chance to dry out a bit afterwards.

It's acquired its own dedicated commentary thread now too.
It has, which isn't really what it's supposed to be about. It's meant to be about moaning about the weather, which I could spend all day doing about the recent weather we've had
Thankfully that'll be changing soon at long last.

Not long got back from a walk I often do around this time and for the first time in a few weeks it was still more or less full daylight.

Actual winter in winter would be nice after the usual autumn extension we’ve had so far, apart from the one day here in early December which actually felt like winter of course.

No it’s not. Should have looked at the radar before posting that as it started raining within minutes of posting.

Certainly got very windy for a while here even outside the amber warning area. Lots of reports of trees down locally blocking roads and railways. Didn't see any damage when I was out walking earlier but plenty of branches on the ground and someone's rubbish had done a runner. Also just seen I recorded a 41mph gust which for my station is quite impressive.

Not as windy now although still on the breezy side. Could certainly tell it had been windy when I went for a walk not long ago with plenty of branches on the ground.

Definitely windier now than it was an hour or so ago but it’s stopped raining and there’s even a bit of blue sky appearing.

Whether your preference is for cold or mild, I think it's fair to say that the majority of us are now sick to the back of our teeth of this current weather pattern. My preference is for cold and sunny, but I am so sick of the rain that I'd even take mild, dry and cloudy. Whilst boring, at least it would be a break from the rain.
I'm getting to that point and it's my least favourite weather type in winter but at least it would dry out a bit. Luckily it looks like there will be a change on the way and hopefully it won't be anything resembling mild and cloudy.

Was great down here. Gave the only decent snowfall I've seen in the last 7 years that I've lived here.

Inside decorations down here too apart from the tree which will be down tomorrow. Outside lights still on tonight but they'll be down tomorrow as long as there's enough dry weather later on in the day.
Had a spell of really quite heavy rain just now and like the last few evenings it's quite windy again.

Nice to start the year just as we left off with the sound of rain hitting the window. Did see a bit of sun earlier but not for long.

Happy New Year everyone
You probably won't see me post in this thread again until this time next year as I leave that to those who know far more about the models than I do but I'm always here reading and it's (mostly) a great read with some really knowledgeable people. Lets hope we do see something of interest soon, especially as for this part of the country 2023 was more or less devoid of anything interesting.

Not the best year for storms here but I did get a decent lightshow from a storm that passed not far from here on 17th September. Also managed a couple of daytime storms earlier in the year, not that they were anything special but they were the best it got.

Finally the shield that was seemingly over here has been breached with a very brief but heavy shower just now. Still quite windy but not as windy as it got for a time earlier this evening.
