  1. Looking like we could see some thunderstorms on that front forming tomorrow evening across the midlands as that hot air collides against it? Anyone got any information to talk or post about this?
  2. That front needs to stay out West, preferably as far out as possible, the further, the better as there will be an increased risk of a big French import, possibly a whacking great MCS if the ingredients all come together in good form. The potential is definitely there.
  3. Feeling very tropical here, very caribbean esque. temp is 24c, loads of altocumulus and altostratus in the skies advecting NNW, things look like they could go bang this afternoon.
  4. Best looking chances of one so far this year coming up I think. Some seering heat is looking ever more likely to break out over the weekend, and, well... look at them lifted indexes and CAPE over the SE Sunday morning! :o
  5. Slap bang right in the middle of that ! My camera is standing by.
  6. Radar showing cell North of Bangor area has fired up. Any sferics on this anyone? Looks like its just cropped up out of the blue.
  7. If that is to break any capping, it will explode like mints in lemonade that has been shook for 12 hours straight judging by that chart!
  8. Remember getting off the plane at Rhodes in August 2010, soon as i stepped out, sweat literally started pouring down my face, that was at midnight! It was so hot there in actual fact the locals were saying how hot it was!
  9. Normally the case with a typical boring westerly! I find southerlies like this though straight up from near Spain provide greater amounts of potential at any time of the day, Been seeing Spanish plume like altocumulus and altostratus for a couple of days now advecting N. Looking like its gonna get a lot worse this coming week too. At last! some exciting weather is likely to be on the cards
  10. Yeah, What's the betting our noisy neighbours will get it all entirely! We'll be left with zilch as per usual!
  11. Check out that potential monster event Sunday night, that could happen over EA+SE. :o
  12. I've had my hopes up this summer for quite a few potential events that didn't materialise, and the same hopes have been up for at least 4 years, and still nothing special. What an opportunity this could well be though. Never seen anything like that for at least 5 years or more! If that comes off, It'll be another episode of 31 August 2005 or June 28th 2005. That looks like it could mean business. PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE OR ALTER, for goodness sake!
  13. If this is a topsy-turvey scenario, which looks ever more likely to be, then the plumes that come up will surely just have no choice but to wipe out the UK as a blocking high is stopping it from advecting annoyingly Eastwards, which has been the trend for ages now, and most of this summer so far. This is looking promising for good storm activity over the next week or so, IMO anyway.
  14. Been looking at the BBC, by their outlook(not always the most reliable) it seems to me that they're talking of a possible spanish plume like feature on Tue night into Wednesday straight up from S to N with most of the country being affected, then it all giving way later on. Heres hoping, but due to the amount of trust that has been eroded from the beeb so far, I'm not going to take a gamble into believing it might actually happen for once!
  15. Another tropical depression showing its hands approaching the East Caribbean. Will be interesting to see where this one will end up, looks to be moving virtually identical to what Ernesto did!
  16. Now look at that for the UK! Thats what I'm talking about! (July 3rd 1999) Oops, image hasnt come out! check it out though.
  17. Is there a link you can send to me mate? Them storms that night were off the scale!
  18. Haha no problem ! Can remember being too scared to even open my eyes initially when i was awakened by the thunder. Must have been only 7 or something !
  19. https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en&fromgroups#!topic/uk.sci.weather/UIpaIsxpzPU%5B1-25%5D This is almost certainly what I was on about chaps, read this! 3rd July 1999. Was truely amazing!
  20. Sometime back in the late 1990's there was a horrific storm that went on almost all night, with lightning that caused booming thunder and then an hour after that just constant lightning with no thunder, was unexplainable, and a night that ill never forget, it was mid july i think 1998/99. 2nd memorable storm day was July 16th or something in 2002 on one of the days when the commonwealth games at Manchester was taking place. Was in Peterborough city centre, with the main street becoming a river and people were all just lined up underneath the shop entrances! constant lightning with cracking thunder, and there were about 4/5 more storms followed that one too, even on that same night, there was another thunderstorm! Really strange on that day as the storms were moving N, but winds were blowing in from the N/NE totally the opposite way to where the storms were going! Onwards from that, up to 2006, there were a numerous amount of decent storm activity, where has it all gone now? :L. Since 2006 we haven't had anything remarkable, well certainly not like the ones as stated above. Hopefully we'll be compensated sooner or later!
