Wedge apparently passed north of Pigsah, AL where they had a killer tornado this morning. It's being trailed by a strong anticyclonic tornado which is also showing up on radar with associated debris ball reflecticity
The bad thing is with all the power outages, many people have no TV to get warnings, and weather radio is out of action. I'm sure sirens are firing in the towns, but people in more rural areas aren't going to know what's coming
17 Tornado warnings and at least 10 have strong rotation and could well be producing at this time. This is unreal... A historic outbreak is unfolding I'm sure...
Lost for words at that Cullman tornado. The single most amazing tornado footage I've seen in my life... Power lost at the tower cam as it was tearing through town... Motion has to have been violent Ef4/Ef5
Didn't miss much. Was some very intense rotation in the clouds. A few rope vortices touched down and the stream died. Not sure but it looked like it was going multivortex.. Insane signature.

This one is from tupelo, ms and is covering the Union County storm near New Albany. Not much in the way of spotters out.

This will be the one to watch later. Has probably the best severe weather coverage in the country. Covers most of the 45% tor high risk area..
tornado on Andy Gabrielsons cam!

insane rotation!
and his cam dies....
Cam back online now. He's stopped by damage. Trees down on what looks like a trailer.
Expect yesterdays numbers of reported tornadoes to rise substantially after surveys (assuming they'll be able to tell damage apart from todays storms). Most of the strong signatures were heavily embedded in rain and not many would have been visible. There's lots of reports of significant damage in Mississippi and Alabama including at least 4 fatalities and most of the damage is listed under wind reports with 'possible tornado' clauses... Given the radar signatures they were associated with, a fair number will be ruled tornadic I'm sure. Going to be interesting to see how the surveys work out when these paths will likely cross with new ones later today.
I think the mention of 'despite elevated potential' in the SPC outlook probably means 'despite increased potential' rather than actual elevated storms. Whilst forecast LCL's are not exactly low, they are not so high as to rule out tornadoes or other severe. Dews in the low to mid 70's, temps in the mid to high 80's are fine. The Red River Valley north of DFW seems a fine play on the current GFS at the moment for this day though it'll likely change
North East Texas is in big trouble today it appears. EHI values (a function of Cape x Storm Relative Helicity) are actually off the scale on the Twisterdata maps. Significant Tornado Parameter pushing upwards of 25 near the triple point. I seem to remember being amazed on May 22nd when this value was pushing 12-13 just prior to the Bowdle storm tornadoing and I don't recall seeing such high values before. Most maps stop at an STP of 10 on their scales!!
If I had to chase anywhere, I'd say the Sherman - Paris Corridor, but I expect there's be ample opportunities all the way up through Little rock and into MO/TN/KY
Not surprising with regards to Vilonia. That radar presentation was about as scary as they get. I honestly expected to wake up to news of more victims. The town is spread out east-west and there was no way that storm was getting by without impacting at least part of the town. Looked like it went through about 3 miles W of the downtown area, from the radar but with storm tilt that could be out by a bit. Reports of businesses right in downtown destroyed doesn't match up with the radar unless this was a very large tornado or had a very damaging RFD wrapping around it, otherwise.
