I'd be interested to see what people think of these shots - small funnel or not? They're of a cell that passed over this evening that appeared to show rotation - part of the base could be seen slowly spinning with swirls visible and protruding centre. A lowering then appeared from that region. After a while this shrunk and the spinning seemed to shift over. It had a very dark, low, scruffy cloud base and appeared to produce some intense rainfall from radar but not over me. No lightning.

Interesting afternoon. Had an imposing surface based storm cell move down to my east earlier, thundering as it went. Couldn't see any lightning but had a spectacular cloud structure at times. Then two cells grew very quickly just to the south stretching narrow anvils right over my location. They also started thundering, quite loud at times. However, both anvils were drawn into the eastern cell. One cell then had the life drained out of it, while the other kept rumbling but it also eventually went the same way. Really bizarre to watch an anvil rapidly growing and stretching over your head and then making contact with and joining another cell. Definitely in a sweet spot this afternoon.

Cap has gone. More thunder - it sounds angry. Huge cloud formed right next to me now.

The Sudbury cell is starting to look quite impressive from my back garden. Can hear thunder now and wind is really picking up.

Huge elevated anvils going up west of here - looks spectacular.

Wow. Storms from 3 different directions and a line passing right over with thunder that made the ground vibrate. Now reinvigorating again, and another cell to my east with constant strobing - looks very active.

Some sferics getting closer to the East Anglia coast. Will it survive the crossing though?

Just had a squall line pass over with hail, torrential rain and swirling clouds, gusty winds blowing the rain horizontally. Now thundering.

That was a tasty little storm. Passed right over us with loud thunder and lots of crawlers. I saw the Netweather storm risk was 57% tonight but ignored it as it looked like the convection earlier had died off and was fairly cold out. Tempting to drive South and follow it.

Sky box has just crashed. Decent storm. Pretty loud now.

Well bit of a surprise - plenty of thunder and lightning passing over now. Some big flashes and loud bangs.

This is a photo of a very active cell that passed overhead during the plume event elevated storms last week. It resembled a strobe light with loud thunder, gusty winds and some brief rain. I'm presuming that it was elevated from the strobing and general forecast. So what's in the photo? My guess is a shelf cloud.
