  1. Last month we had about an hours' worth of torrential snow, with flakes larger than golf balls, by far the biggest I've ever seen. Unfortunately it didn't settle though.
  2. I know that area well, must look great on the hills! Just heavy rain here sadly. If we can't have snow, I'm hoping we may get some more electrical activity instead. Had a few very impressive lightning strikes at around 6pm yesterday.
  3. Shifts north, shifts south, will it won't it, this is almost unbearable!
  4. Is there a mysterious dry spot over Hampshire?! This will be a real nailbiter. We are so close to something epic yet could miss out altogether! Think it just comes down to radar watching now.
  5. Got back from this game just over an hour ago and certainly wasn't expecting that! Was horrible cold rain when we arrived in Norwich but it slowly turned more and more to snow and eventually started settling. The drive back along the A11 was treacherous with several cm's on the ground and driving snow in the pitch black, the roads were very slush and slippery. Yet soon after getting out of Norfolk it turned all calm and clear. They will wake up to a nice wintry scene in the morning, hopefully we have our own event in 24-36 hours time!
  6. That's how it started here, and it's turned into an hour of some of the heaviest snow I've ever seen! Still going strong now although the flakes beginning to get a bit smaller.
  7. Wow, unbelievably huge flakes here. If the ground was just slightly colder it would be piling up.
  8. Well it probably won't settle but a nice surprise anyway, really chucking it down here! This seems to have come out of nowhere?
  9. Sleet has just turned to snow, nice big flakes. Feeling a lot colder than it did early this morning.
  10. Haha I can but hope! Certainly enjoyed yesterday although as usual all I read is how bad City were, After that result , to wake up to a bit of snow would top off the weekend nicely!
  11. Looking at the radar, the ppn seems to be pepping up a bit around the Oxfordshire area and towards the W Midlands, I guess that's what is expected to bring some snow south? Not that I expect to get anything here.
  12. Falling mostly as rain now but still with a few big flakes mixed in.
  13. Snow here in the centre of Southampton, nice big flakes although not settling. Yet!
  14. Seems like everywhere but here is seeing some snow. Just rain with the odd (large) flake mixed in.
  15. Light snow here but the flakes are very small. Looking at the radar, it looks like we are right on the edge of the ppn as it pivots round.
  16. Fantastic weather here today, started snowing just after 4am and continued for a good 7-8 hours, and it is now snowing again! Feel for anyone who missed out, but looks like there could be more opportunities in the coming days. Shame my day was ruined by the ridiculous goings on at my football club lol.
  17. I live right by the waterfront in the centre of town, yet in that Dec 2010 event I had 6 inches here, just shows it is possible.
  18. Light snow flurries on and off all morning here, also noticed it was trying to settle earlier which bodes well I think. Can't shake that nagging feeling that it will be rain here tomorrow as that is what so often happens, with snow just a few miles inland.
  19. With a scenario like this, I think at 3/4 days out the MO will always say confidence is low as plenty can change at short notice, as we have seen. However the current model output is very encouraging and hopefully confidence will continue to rise over the next 24/48 hours!
  20. So, a yellow warning for snow for most of the SW, and the MetO site saying light snow for Southampton all day Friday. That will do me for now.
  21. Had a little bit of light snow in Southampton this morning, but the last couple of hours just heavy rain. Can't help being a bit jealous of those further north but hopefully the end of the week will deliver for us down here.
  22. I have to be up for work at 3.30 in the morning, hoping I might be driving to work in the snow but not holding my breath lol. On radar the PPN looks pretty pathetic.
  23. I thought it was hailing due to the noise but wasn't sure as it's dark. I missed the lightning, but the thunder was great.
