  1. Impressive storms again across the the US midwest atm, seen fork lightning on this Dallas cam. http://www.earthcam.com/usa/texas/dallas/reuniontower/?cam=reuniontower Fingers crossed for our first storm of the year here over the net few days.
  2. Night lightning visible on this Louisville webcam if you need your fix. http://www.whas11.com/story/weather/cams/2015/01/12/louisville-metro-camera/21634485/
  3. Interesting that those charts show the ppn as snow in the south and rain in the north, don't see that very often!
  4. I take it that red arrow is pointing towards all the areas that WON'T see snow, whilst us in Hants and Dorset get pasted! Bring it on...
  5. Totally agree, still haven't seen a single snowflake down here for nearly two years, and it's not even that cold tbh. Even on the radio yesterday they were talking about temperatures of around 6 degrees which is hardly an arctic blast! Nothing but cold rain the last few days and now next week looks mostly dry. Honestly don't see what all the excitement is about, at least for southern parts, just bog standard winter weather. Northerlies never produce down here.
  6. Looking at the radar this looks like quite a complex system, with ppn moving in all kinds of directions. I had to drive to Dorchester and back earlier and it rained all the way, mostly light but with a few heavier bursts. Nothing remotely wintry.
  7. Been woken up again by a cracking storm here. Lightning every 20-30 seconds, some of it very vivid and followed by shotgun thunder! What a great thundery week this has been!
  8. Decent little storm went through about 15 mins ago with torrential rain and gusty winds, still getting the occasional bright flash now.
  9. Jet black sky to the west of here, and some deep rumbles as it approaches.
  10. It wasn't bad at all! Sadly seems to have completely stopped now, but maybe there will be more later.
  11. Looking at Blitzortung the action does seem to be roughly moving in a NE direction. It's dying down here now an the lightning seems more off towards the east, but we had some cracking fork lightning lighting up the sky, followed almost instantly by loud cracks of thunder. I'm wide awake for work now.
  12. Wow, haven't really been keeping up with this thread for a few days, so what a surprise to be woken up by deep booming thunder and bright flashes of lightning! Quite frequent too. Lovely stuff!
  13. Several fairly loud rumbles of thunder a while ago, I finally get out of work and it's all brightened up. Feels very steamy outside with a mixture of milky sunshine and post-storm clouds, very humid. Hopefully more to come later.
  14. Heavy rain on and off and several rumbles of thunder. Hardly any wind though.
  15. Just had a torrential burst of rain, followed by a couple of rumbles of thunder in the last few minutes. Not seen any lightning yet.
  16. Yellow warning from Met Office http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=map&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1406242800
  17. Thanks, was thinking that as it seems a bit quieter in France atm so hopefully more will develop later. Seems like Dorset, Wiltshire and Lincolnshire are the places to be so far!
  18. I'm considering driving down towards Bournemouth to catch a storm as there seems to be little headed this way. Any thoughts or would I be wasting my time?
  19. Bit of a let down here too, once again everything going either east or west of here. Enjoyed watching the lightning in Dorset from a distance last night but would be nice to get something closer and still haven't heard any proper thunder. Pleased for everyone who got a direct hit though. Very cloudy skies now, but got my eye on that clump over the Cherbourg Peninsular hoping it comes this way...
  20. Big flashes over Bournemouth way every five seconds or so now, and can hear distant thunder.
  21. Wow just seen a vivid CG off to the west, and the flashes definitely getting more frequent.
  22. Seeing bright flashes lighting up the sky to the south west now. No audible thunder though.
  23. The showers around the Cherbourg Peninsular seem to have really pepped up on the last radar update. I have to get up for work at 3am but tempted to stay up a bit longer in the hope of catching a light show!
  24. Like the look of that 'plume' for tonight and tomorrow on that Philip Avery forecast!
