    Wow, just been woken by insanely torrential rain here (Southampton), it's like a monsoon out there. Almost as exciting as the possible forthcoming snow! And as I type, a deep booming rumble of thunder, WTF?! Wasn't expecting this.

    Looks like we got lucky today, but tbh this year has been rubbish for storms down here. Nice surprise though, and a brief distraction in the never ending hunt for snow!

    All calmed down for a bit, but it's gone very dark now with ominous looking clouds to the west. Hopefully more to come.

    Lightning accompanied by some loud cracks of thunder here!

    Still white and frosty here, even in town. On another note, the Met Office website has the thunder symbol for Southampton on Saturday morning.

    Just had an unexpected bright flash of lightning here, with torrential rain which knocked out the Sky signal.
