  1. @CatchMyDrift

I've no idea why that white triangle is there or what it represents and have not noticed it before but will keep eyes peeled when passing through G.Ogle in the near future.

Recently, you were asking about places of interest in the area. Have you discovered Rob Roy's grave at Balquhidder? There is a nice short circular walk starting from Balquhuidder Kirk where he is buried.

Geese are plaguing the grass fields again so no sign of them heading north yet.

There was a sizeable flock of Bramblings at Balgavies yesterday which would indicate they too are leaving their northward migration quite late this year.

On the other hand there was a small flock of House Martins feeding over the loch and surrounds - first sighting for me this Spring.

  3. Spent a chilly hour or so at Balgavies late this afternoon, but nice to see the Ospreys back and in usual form – a couple of distant (blurry) pics, and the reds:

  4. It's a bright morning here with little wind. The early morning grass frost has gone and I'm hopeful that the temp, at present 8C,  will creep up during the day.

Re the Jackdaw nest, I'm afraid it will have to be a belt and braces approach with a long pole - numerous new sticks have been added this morning!

  5. A fair amount of cloud cover here, with occasional bursts of sunshine. At least the chilly wind has dropped. Temp currently 9C and the breeze is a westerly one.

I’m trying to discourage (without much success) the 2ndpair of Jackdaws from nesting in the garage, but haven’t the heart to actually destroy the nest.

    Top marks for effort:

  6. Today, as was yesterday is bright and sunny, with a gusty wind and feeling cooler than the 7C. There is, however, cloud banking up to the northwest at the moment.

A snap from yesterday -  fishing boats tucked up in a colourful Fraserburgh harbour.

And one from this earlier this morning - showing the daffs which are now mostly past their best. As I have mentioned previously they have flowered around a month earlier than usual.

Can't say I'm relishing the weekend weather prospects.....

  7. Here, there is a flat grey stratus sky producing  large snowflakes intermittent with fine cold drizzle/sleet, which is catching on the grass but not on the warmer stoney surfaces.

After a (very) quick step outside, I reckon the temp to be + a few degrees and the surface breeze to emanate from the S or SE.

This wet stuff can cause quite severe disruption to power-cables etc.

  8. It's been a fine sunny day today. Most of the eastward bound showers fizzled out before reaching here.

Just been out to collect a few logs for the fire, the wind has dropped and the stars are out.

If only there was a good aurora forecast for tonight.

Back to Sun here, just a passing shower. Feels absolutely bitter in the wind though.

Whatever happens its looking like I'll get an end of season snow fix. Booked a campsite in Solden, Austria this morning for first week in April, taking the motorhome over. Euro tunnel was booked a few weeks ago but just decided this morning to head to Austria rather than France. Lots of driving but we've done it before and it's worth it.

Are you prepared for a possible no deal brexit, Ravelin?.....health insurance, green card, international driving licence etc.

  10. Glasgow was fairly sunny and bright today with broken cloud, but back at Montrose later with a northerly breeze and brief cold rain showers, it felt frigid. The car registered a temp of 4C. The gritters were out in force, including the ticket office official at the station who was racing up and down the platforms and steps pushing a mini salt-spreader on wheels, presumably to fulfil his H&S obligation before the end of his shift.  He was ignoring the growing queue anxious to purchase a ticket for the incoming Edinburgh-bound train.

The sunset over the Basin tonight.

3C and been absolutely lashing down since about 2 o'clock. Will this lemon weather stop following me around please?!

It's been pouring down since daybreak hereabouts with an unpleasant, gloomy and foggy journey up ( and down) the A90 today. In the outward morning journey there was an occasional splash of sleet:nonono:.

Drizzle now back home - doggie refused to walk along to the gate to help pick up the post.
