An overcast day with the sun attempting to break through the clouds with limited success; temp 13C, humid and a slight breeze from the S.
I see from the radar there is a cluster of heavy showers just to the north and west of my location. The Meto forecast from Edzell Castle Pleasance does not predict thundery showers here, but it would not surprise me if heavy bursts bubble up this afternoon.
If it must rain, at least a crack of thunder would give added interest!

Very relieved to see this late-returning Barn Swallow investigating the barn this morning - still just the one though.

We've suddenly erupted in swallows here, one day none then next day loads. Lovely summer birds
Do hope some make their way up here! They are approx. one month late already and I've seen very few around elsewhere. It seems they may actually be in decline.

As predicted, another cold but bright early morning with a temp currently around 4C and breeze from the north.
Some quite spectacular formations of cirrus type clouds, ? Cc and Cs
This one appears to converge towards the east, while simultaneously a similar formation appeared to converge towards the north.

Arriving home, from a week away, it was like walking into a refrigerator. It took a couple of hours for the CH and stove on full burn to make things comfortable.
There must be a better way? And I have 3 layers of woollies on. Anyway it's B cold outside.

It’s been a beautiful couple of days over in Ardnamurchan, not too hot or too cold, with the temp today hovering around 19C in the sun and a gentle breeze.
A Cuckoo was calling yesterday evening at Strontian and again this afternoon in the Ariundle nature reserve.

It was a quite nice day over in the west, a sunny, still, morning, although cool-ish with the temp not rising above 13C despite the sun. Low cloud eventually enclosed the sky during the afternoon providing some light on and off rain.

Nice pics!
I don't think you'll see the triangle from the road, only from the old railway line. If we're along that way when we're on holiday I'll get a pic.
That part of Scotland is very wet, although it is very spectacular too. I think the two things go hand in hand
Catch, if you are serious about an eventual move, imho, the Aberfoyle area might be good for both snow and scenery. The Brig o' Turk - Aberfoyle road, as far as I can recall, is often closed during the winter months. ( I don't keep stats regarding that statement tho' )

Looked for the triangle in Glen Ogle this morning @CatchMyDrift but the visibility was dire with mist and low cloud. I do find G.Ogle and G. Dochart usually to be quite dreich cold places. Actually, with a temp of 3-4C there was heavy rain in these parts with a splodge of sleet thrown in for good measure.
Towards Glen Coe the clouds broke, and travelling further west the temp rose to an amazing 13C, but with little wind it felt pleasant and spring-like.
A snatch of sunshine on the hills.

The moonrise was so red on Friday night my youngest was convinced it was Mars.
For the 3rd day in a row the kids and the dogs are in the river. It's not often you can say that let alone in April.
Yes, three warm days in a row are to be appreciated up here in the provinces.
I'm packing my swimsuit for the visit to Ardnamurchan next week.

Sadly this will become common, sooner than folk think, the lack of rain especially on the higher ground is causing problems and we are only in April. Sheep farmers are using hay stock for goodness sake, the vegetation is that poor. Praying for that pattern change now,the thought of this weather spreading into May and June is not good at all. Don't get me wrong the weather this Easter is fantastic,if this was the max temp with clear blue skies all summer i would be in heaven, but the need for that wet stuff from the sky is now becoming a big issue.
Praying won't help. Adjusting lifestyle, just might, at the end of the day.

A smashing April day with temp this afternoon hanging around 23C+ at Forest of Birse and still 21C back home as I write. Even the breeze is warm – unusual for these parts.
@shuggee Many large dark-coloured butterflies on the go there but I was not able to identify as they didn’t settle and kept well above eye level, while floating off into the woods, definitely not Orange-tips though.
Jess was very excited about having her first swim of the season in the Feugh.
And it was good to see the old Bucket Mill at Birse has been kept in good working order.

After a hint of early morning frost and mist, it’s turned out a fine, if slightly hazy day with the current temp around 15C and no wind to speak of. A few butterflies are out and about.
To continue the Jackdaw nest saga, the up-and-over garage door actually dislodged the first attempt and their point of entry was blocked off. Undeterred, they have pecked a hole through a beam on the roof above the guttering in order to gain entry to the garage again and have recommenced building a nest behind a tarpaulin and on top of some old furniture - just discovered it by chance this morning. I think it will be possible to fix the tarpaulin so that they do not have free access to garage/barn, but no doubt the swallows will be discouraged from nesting again this year.

A fellow Raynauder! Yeah it’s preety painful in cold weather, I can’t even move my hands when it drops below 5 degrees and I’m out for too long. Gloves don’t work either my hand just goes numb, purple and sore. It’s horrid and you can’t really get used to it either so I just hope for warm weather personally or run my hands under the shower or tap to warm them up first, that tends to help them stay warmer for longer though, but yes it’s horrid
I have Raynaud's too - darned pest - I can usually gauge the temperature by the speed and degree my fingers turn white.
I find a hat, a polo neck, a few upper layers, a scarf and, of course, gloves help.

I rediscovered my love of beaches... these Luskentyre
and this was the sunrise through thin cloud at Drinishader one morning (about to go for the ferry to N. Uist.)
These are near Ballyshare on N. Uist
Never seen so many different birds. I'm guessing no foxes, badgers, pine martens etc. There must be more oystercatchers there than anywhere else I've been. Also lapwings...
Super pics, HC, of a beautiful part of Scotland. I particularly like the breaking wave.

Yesterday was bright and sunny as I took my doggie to the vet school in Edinburgh for her 6 monthly 'staging' (all's well I believe). Spent some time on the E. Lothian coast.
Dunbar castle and harbour:
Today back at home , grey, low St although a few Cu have ruffled up this afternoon. - might explain my wander into another thread.

After a frosty start it is another fine sunny day, but not feeling particularly warm, around 9-10C, and the breeze has a definite bite.
This damson-type plum tree (variety not known) is laden with blossom - hope the frost and the forecast chill will not be too damaging. I’m not expecting a great crop though as the buds on the adjacent Victoria plum tree are still firmly closed and there is a dearth of pollinating insects around here, as yet, only the odd bumble bee.

It’s been a Ci day overhead with some hazy sunshine, but Sc and Cu now underlie the upper sheet with some drizzle now; doesn’t augur well for the weekend.
More interestingly, a Cuckoo has been calling very nearby and the bird feeders have been deserted. I opened the window with camera at the ready but immediately the (unseen) Cuckoo stopped singing; on Cuckoo watch now, perhaps I need to learn more subtle fieldcraft.
