Seasons' greetings to one and all.
However, I'm not a big fan of the faux religious Xmas with its excessives, waste, and commercial connections, but at least it draws ( albeit temporary) attention to homelessness, lonlieness and family disconnects.
Off to tread eggshells tomorrow.
Much prefer NY's eve with neighbourly or even Burn's night associations.

Quite. However if you wish to promote your views on this platform, then it would be helpful if evidence was provided on here.

Hypothetical Scenario:
If I tell a person to jump of a cliff and tell them im certain they wont hit the bottom because there is no such thing as gravity, would they do it? I think not. Why? because the person knows that they would hit the bottom, does the person understand gravity? no unless they have studied the science of gravity. Have I used science in what I told the person? yes but in an inverted devious way.
Again you are trying to impose your educated beliefs on my beliefs by telling me that I must write my beliefs in a "certain" way.
As regards to showing evidence, I could put up reams of evidence but all too time consuming.
Why do I need to show evidence? are people that unbelieving in these times?
Ive known you on this forum fpr many years, and not once have I ever scolded you for what you type but yet here you are dictating to me how i must type my beliefs.
Nowhere in my original statement did I state anything with certainty, more like you jumping to conclusions and being misunderstood on the net, cant really express emotions can I ?
As a non-scientist, but with some basic scientific knowledge and interested in this topic, I do require to scrutinise evidence supporting any particular theory before concluding on the merits. Therefore, there is a need to provide evidence. To state that to ‘put up reams of evidence but all too time consuming’ is lazy and somewhat unconvincing.

We could have waved to each other in passing as I was in that general area yesterday, late morning, on a tootling about way home from a short break on the west coast. Cut east off the A9 at Dunkeld.
Snow has disappeared from all but the higher peaks around Arrochar where it was very patchy. The amount of standing water on the Loch Lomond road was rather hazardous.
Today, sunny at present but feeling quite cold, 4C and a gentle breeze from the SW. Unfortunately, rain is forecast for later.

Another misty, still start to the day on the west coast.
Walked the short trail in Puck’s Glen near Dunoon before the rain encroached.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puck's_Glen
Steady rain during the afternoon, with sleet on the higher sections of road.
Currently mildish, around 5C, light rain and a stiff wind blowing.

After an inauspicious grey and misty start it morphed into a fine, mainly sunny day in Cowal/Kintyre. Had to strip off outer clothing on a short uphill stroll at Glashburn even though the temp was only around 3C mid-afternoon. No thermal gloves required.
Finished Xmas shopping at Lochgilphead (phew).

Drove through a swathe of N Central Scotland today (via Aberdeen) to Cowal. Rainy it was with an occasional splodge of sleet in Glen Ogle and the Arrochar area. The temp was a fairly consistent 2-3C. Lying surface water was a hazard and the fields appear totally waterlogged. The snow line seems quite high hereabouts but I'll get a better view in the morning.

How was Sunday's storm a 'named' storm that no-one noticed, where as it's a working day today with significant weather disruption the storm has no name?
Lorries topple as wind and rain cause disruption
WWW.BBC.CO.UKRoads are closed and trains and ferries cancelled as heavy rain and strong winds batter Scotland.Really not understanding this so-called naming convention now.
Yes, daughter was caught up in the consequential traffic diversions and chaos this morning on way to work.
Waiting for the squall to pass over shortly (20mins or so), although the line seems to be somewhat fractured to the south west of here.

The heaviest rain appears to be fizzling out before reaching this location, for the time being anyway; 7C; slight breeze from the SW; very dark overhead.

Bright this morning with a light frost hanging on in the shade, 5C and still.
My favourite river spot/walk is the stretch of the North Esk between the Rocks of Solitude and Gannochy Bridge where it tumbles over and through the Highland Boundary Fault

Miserable weather today. Not, relatively cold, but dark, grey and a blustery wind in the morning with intermittent drizzle throughout. Roll on spring or at least the winter solstice.
My doggie is not particularly well, either.

Had a stroll to Loch Muick today, but have to say west is best for scenery @Mr Frost
Very nippy up there early afternoon, around -1 to 0C and a biting breeze.
A little ice art-work in a frosty hollow at the track-side.
And a nice sky and rising a temp, 4C, on returning home.

Following an hour or so of gusty wind mid-afternoon, there was quite a steep dip in temperature, the car sensor reading 2C at 4pm, a drop from around 7C on a sunny-ish morning.
Some wintry looking clouds were in the background over the hills, which fortunately have not deposited any precipitation over my still sodden location.

I am actually abstaining from this vote even though it could be argued it affects me more than 99% of other posters and i will give my reason. It is a small minority who are not happy with the way it is now, that is not to say they are not valued, they are, in fact more than most, but as Knocker said above, when you split it they are then unhappy that most are not viewing their posts so really it isn't going to have any effect either way.
EDIT : and in any case i will not just continue ramping an Easterly when it clearly has blown up so then i go from being called the biggest cold ramping hyperbolic Daily Express type poster on here to being called a troll party pooper anyway so it still won't solve the bickering problem it will just shift it to another part of the forum.
Not according to the poll. The overwhelming majority are up for change.

Could be me too. Beach huts tend not to see snow drifts.
Me too
I have lived at my current location for circa 18yrs and have experienced only two significant snowfalls, more commonly winter precipitation hereabouts is just an unimpressive sleet/wet snow event. Severe overnight cold and ice is more of a feature, but sunshine hours can be above average.
I don’t keep records, just my impression.

Yes, it has been a driech, drizzley and puddley day.
Bought a new 'revolving" comb to groom my doggie, after comments from a new groomer about the fluffy state of her coat.
However, she flinches when the new comb is applied. No doubt she'll become after time, used to the new regime.

Is not true that many regret the industrial revolution and want the clock turned back. Industrialisation and globalisation has produced a lot of wealth. This has encouraged population growth with the added burdens this causes. Production and consumption cannot always be up each year. So if wealth was not there it would not possible for the great, good and possibly the well meaning to dip into.
You can’t have your cake and eat it.
My understanding is that the effect of increased education, wealth and productivity results in a decrease in the rate of population growth.

It's frost-free here this morning, grey and misty tho'. The temp is 3C and there's hardly a breath of wind - fairly routine autumn stuff.

I noticed two things; firstly there was a small plastic card on his dashboard indicating this minimum charge would apply; secondly, on querying this, I received a rather garbled reply along the lines that the local authority required this surcharge to be made as a condition of his licence to pick up passengers from the station. I really did not have the time to get involved in further discussion.
Interestingly, after havng had some persistent questioning during the journey about where I came from and what I was doing in Aberdeen, he decided to 'split' (his words) the difference and charged £6.
I know it's tiny amounts we're talking, but the principle and deception really annoyed me.

I have noticed over the past few days that clouds have seemed to form in well defined 'lines' ( some of CMD's pics show that too) and then spread out. I thought they were contrails initially.

Back to weather, while a sunny day with little wind, it feels bitterly cold. -1C on leaving home earlier around 8am, then -3C at Montrose Station.
Oddly enough, the temp in Aberdeen was +5C, according to the taxi sensor - I was ripped off by the driver, however. . Having confirmed that he accepted card payment, and some minutes into the journey he announced there would be a minimum charge of £7.50. I could have walked the short distance but was running late-ish - and it's uphill.

Been a long time since I had fish & chips at the seaside... dad's family came from Ainster Kirkcaldy Weather, spent a lot of school hols in Fife.
Here's one from a family holiday in Fife - Elie. I think that I was just about reaching my third birthday, and don't have any memories at all of this paricular hol.
Apparently, so I'm told, I fell off a donkey and sustained a greenstick fracture of my left arm - just as well I can't recollect.
I've cropped out the older family members from respect, as one was very ill after being a Japanese POW and others apart from me and another two have passed on.
It's funny though, looking back at the pic, and how times have changed, all the men were actually wearing white shirts, collars and ties with rolled up flannels amd bare feet in the sand.
