Still cloudy not much hope of a thunderstorm, hopefully the sun will break up the cloud this afternoon, but I don't think it will, so it's probably just going to be a gloomy and muggy day

For any of these storms to brew there has to be some surface heating and currently (at least here in the west mids) it's covered in thick cloud with little heat reaching the surface, so unless this cloud cover dissipates in some way, then i think many on here (including me), are going to be disappointed.
Yes there isn't enough surface heating, but to be honest it's looking unlikely that we will get any storms and I suspect the Met Office will remove the Midlands from the warning zone.

That literally places the thunderstorms to the North and to the South of my location! I would hope that doesn't come into play, but thankfully it's only a forecast.

The cloud hung around here until around 1pm and then some breaks appeared. By 3pm all hell had broken loose as one of the best storms I had witnessed to date at that time moved up from the South Midlands and ran a path through all the Midlands into Yorkshire. There was talk on that day that it was a potential supercell. I see the set up today being quite similar, i.e. just a small amount of surface heating and the atmosphere will go bang.

I would definitely like a repeat of that!

I'm not too fussed about it been dry (better this than the Summer we had a decade ago). Let's just hope our drought is broken in the Winter in the form of lots of snow. One can but dream.
I think we deserve decent snow given the appalling number of storms, while the East deserve rain.

Forecast I saw on BBC said mid-north Wales through N Midlands into Southern Northern England
I personally hope that forecast is incorrect (like the last one) and the Storms are slightly further South, into the S Midlands then into the N Midlands, not just the N Midlands! That gives the areas that missed out last night a chance, even in Wales.

What time will any initiation even today except the one already happening in S Wales?
I wouldn't expect anything, as I live near your area and the storm risk is 0% from Netweather. It will probably either kick off in the West, North, or East.

Yes, after all that and still no storm here. The east wasn't even initially meant to be the focal point for storms.
Every single time!
I know, it's incredible that there literally seems to be a storm shield above us!

Not only did we not see the worst of the storms as we were supposed to, we didn't see any! It shocked me how bad it was and I actually knew by 11pm that they weren't tracking towards us, but I expected something to happen and it never did. It will go down as one of the biggest misses ever, we missed an MSC and then all the other action! Actually, this year is on par as going down as the worst year ever for thunderstorms in the West Midlands. I actually cannot remember a worse year. An incredible map to show how we missed out:
Quite similar to the last major event this year:

Time to sleep, major disappointment but what can you expect when you live in the heart of the biggest storm shield in the UK. Sure, a few heavy showers managed to develop just to the North of me but they somehow avoided me, and I didn't observe any thunder. Everything is starting to weaken now, so no point in staying up any longer. It always amazes me how much action the East gets in comparison, but how close it is in reality.

wouldnt surprise me, leicester seems to be in an area where clouds seems to avoid travelling over. As if something is there forcing them round.
I notice weather tends to always move in a diagonal north east pattern over the uk whether its from the south or west.
I notice that also, but I find it strange how the storm to the West is heading mostly northwards whilst the one to the East is heading north-eastwards, leaving the Central half of the country clear.

I assume this is meant to be a sarcastic post but it may not be that far off and if it's not a sacastic the my apologies but it still not be far off
I'm going based on the direction they seem to be heading, but I may be wrong and instead they take a turn slightly West.

Not looking good really. Storms to the South seem to be decaying as they head inland and also noticed they are taking more of a north-easterly track probably heading towards the areas already affected by the MSC earlier, not fair on those missing out
-
That MSC north of London looks incredible!
But I just cannot believe my area has missed out once again! However, a line of storms to the south of the country looks to be heading northwards which could be something to keep an eye on in the next few hours.

It just sucks that not only is there a decline in thunder days, even though they are almost absent here, but snow is a rarity as well. You'd have thought the warming would trigger more storms but nope. Having said that I noticed the East does get a fair amount of storms still.

I'm here no doubt.

I'm starting to get bored of the weather living in this area. No storms, snow, or anything of interest! We have literally dodged every single storm this year!

Looks like the Midlands (with the exception of the far north) is on par to miss every single storm during this thundery breakdown even tomorrow the BBC places the thundery showers developing to the East and moving towards London. It annoys me that we suffer with this hot stuffy weather and all and in return we get NOTHING unlike other areas, and the same thing happened last time. This year has had not a single storm in the whole of spring for the Central Midlands. It is still possible for something to develop albeit unlikely, but we have the rest of the summer to get something decent, and if we miss out on everything then hey ho.

Cannot believe how badly the Midlands has done these past days. No thunder whatsoever, and now the rain has fragmented. Perhaps isolated thunderstorms tomorrow with higher CAPE values but overall one of the biggest disappointments I have ever seen thunderstorm-wise with only the far East getting all the action this evening. Oh well, enjoy it if you get the chance.
All Lightning in the past 72 hours.

Around 100,000 strikes in the UK in the last 24 hours, maybe 70,000 in the South and East, 20,000 in the South West, 4,000 in Wales, 40 in the East Midlands, and 1 in the West Midlands, and many more strikes likely to come for the North of England!
