  1. Every level gauge in Chesterfield has set a new record today, some by closer to 1 meter! Roads are underwater, many businesses and homes flooded.
  2. Still raining moderately here, town centre is basically an island right now
  3. 6 out of 7 level gauges on the River Hipper and Rother in Chesterfield are now above their previous all time highs set in 2007.
  4. We're now heading into the realm of unprecedented here. 4 of the 8 river level gauges in the town are already above their all time highs.
  5. River Hipper in Chesterfield has now topped the record levels of June 2007. Never though I'd see the day that some of those records fell but here we are, and we still have persistent heavy rain. All stations in the town look likely to break their all time level record.
  6. Rother at Hady Hill now at 3.02m, 30cm away from topping the 2007 record, crazy stuff
  7. Serious situation now in Chesterfield, roads are gridlocked and homes being evacuated in Brampton area
  8. Relentless heavy rain, actually concerning looking at what's still coming!
  9. Intense rainfall here and the wind is gusting as well now, no sign of it stopping
  10. Already seeing loads of reports of localised flooding on social media, radar really not looking good either!
  11. Heavy rain here now, and it'll carry on for some time looking at the radar!
  12. Are we really looking at 2007 level of flooding in this region? I've been majorly out of the loop with this one so other than seeing the amber warning I'm clueless
  13. Some absolutely remarkable tornado footage from France today, makes me wonder if such a thing would be possible in the UK
  14. Would anyone be interested in a telegram channel for UK Storm Chasing? Probably only be used on active high risk days such as yesterday, but it'd certainly make it easier to share target locations etc. P.S Mods apologies if posting about external apps is against forum rules
  15. Can't help but feel disappointed that I didn't head to Linc's yesterday, but all signs were pointing to E York's as the best target area! Probably the last chase of 2023 too!
  16. Just watching this flicker away to the NW PXL_20230910_204127760.TS.mp4
  17. Well, like a few others I went for the high risk zone in East Yorkshire, pondered trying to intercept that beast that was going towards Skegness but realised I'd never make it in time. Just as I was about to head home some storms fired up just West of the A1, navigating some road closures near York slowed me down but eventually managed to hit the A1 and intercept the storm near Leming Bar Services. Some torrential rain and roads flooded, plenty of flashes but not much visible structure. Decided to head home after that. 3/10 day overall, but you win some you lose some.
  18. Feel like I'm missing out sat here in E York's but hopefully the patience will pay off
  19. Currently near Sherbourne Yorkshire, waiting for things to get going
