exactly and tbh the Azores high is overdue its presence on us, as we haven;t seen much of it since guess when? oh yeah last winter, who knows how long it could establish itself for though, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks 4 months ????

Would I right in thinking that this is because of the negative NAO?

A local weather forcaster said the other day that after the poor summer and recent record rainfall we could really do with a mild and dry winter in order for the countryside and nature to recover. Not to mention farming and agriculture.

I can see where you are coming from but winter blocks don't simply last for all 3 months that's just stupid a few weeks at the most. During winter their is plenty of time for wet and mild weather but most just want a cold and snowy one they know that it's not going to be like for the entire winter. Just want a few decent snowfalls.
