  1. Can't blame the BBC for their forecast, at least everyone is prepared. This will be such a marginal event for the SE given current synoptics, it will be hard for them to change their stance until the morning. We might even see the NAE & NMM go more towards the snow solution.

Just don't throw toys out the pram if it doesn't snow, because its always been a marginal event for us.

Absolutely, if it snows before the mild dross then it's a bonus.

    If not, cest la vie.

My location without being bias does stand a much better chance than areas south of London I have to say, Meto warning confirms that too.

But as always things can change for good or better!

  2. I would bank any snow even if it only exists for a short time but am not as excited as I was for last Fridays event for example as I knew that would stick around but I will definitely be curtain twitching overnight tomorrow night yes

Of course it's not going to be anything as good as lasts Fridays.

But that fact it may snow once more before the mild dross surely has to be a bonus!

I welcome any kind of snow in my area, for all I know tomorrow's possible snow could be the last I see all winter.

Be careful what you wish for

  3. Dexter you sound like you're getting desperate for that final look at snowflakes. The best bet is ignore all the computer stuff and just look out of your window Friday night. If it rains close the curtains and cry into your pillow.

    Not desperate.

I just love snow, if I didn't I wouldn't be on this forum and following charts would I.

So that's the BBC and Meto now forecasting snow for me tomorrow! How is that desperate?

  4. Live TV Forecast from BBC:

Disruptive snow for this region tomorrow, snow graphics galore.

If later, that all changes to rain, I will completely boycott BBC TV forecasts and listen to members on here.

Astonishing that they could possibly forecast such a bold weather event and get it wrong the day before!

Some members suggest sleet a best, that is a wide difference to TV forecasts.

    Who will be right?

  5. Dexter

I have a BIG Feeling the BBC Are using out of date data Mate!

Expect to see a massive toning down on their Tv Broadcasts over the next 6-12 hours as from the latest data I have seen the Populous part of the SE Has a massive problem in even seeing a Snowflake tomorrow with Sleet at best, some of the latest models (NAE For Instance) are now showing quite a marked cut off line to the snow much further North over parts of the East Midlands and Northern East Anglia.

Expect the Graphics on the tv to change soon i would expect.

Best we can hope for is a brief snow to rain but all green when we wake up on Saturday morning I would imagine

    Oh ok.

If that is the case I find that outrageous that the BBC can do that!

Hammond been giving live broadcasts on BBC news all morning:

    "Substantial snow"

    "Major disruption"

Our whole region covered in snow!

Hard to believe that will all now be replaced by rain graphics come later today!

Agree. Feel a few people are getting over-excited at the prospect of not very much!

Well when you have live TV forecasts on the news channel saying disruptive snow! What do u expect?

Of course there will be excitement

  6. Latest NMM goes for a sleet and mostly rain affair for us down in the south east, temps and dew points being the wrong side of marginal

You'd best get on to BBC then to change their weather forecasts. as they have a risk of disruptive snow for this region tomorrow night!

Can't see where this Thames streamer is going to come from, certainly not for the midday forecast by the NAE

Channel, North Sea and estuary look calm as millponds

There was never a streamer forecast in the first place

  7. Blink and you will miss it affair, anyone who wants to see heavy snow will have to lamppost watch overnight as it will be gone the next morning, would rather see 4" fall that sticks around for a few days than 8" that is gone the next morning

Yet again another post having a tantrum over a snow to rain event.

It's going to get mild, whether we all like it or not, so what a better way to go out with one more snow event.

So what if its going to be washed away, that's what happens when a mild spell follows a cold spell.

I would much rather watch a few hours of snowfall followed by rain, than a boring ALL rain event!

  8. Well as i suggested yesterday looks increasingly likely that that current cold, with wave bye with a bang.i did think early yesterday that we would see some fairly decent snow accums, in our part, and some i think found it laughable.with such a stubborn/ established cold scenario as now, and the onslought of the atlantic, to my view there was only going to be one outcome albeit rather tempory.get out friday evening and enjoy what this spell has left, with most likely the most accums, most have seen thus far........and yes that is a RAMP.

I agree, with TV forecasts really ramping it, weather guys on twitter expressing concerns. Updated warnings later today.

It all looks pretty good for snow tomorrow night!

What also interests me that come Saturday morning the air isn't what I would call mild. It's less cold.

Could be a lot of lying snow around before midday Saturday, then the rapid thaw

  9. There are two fronts heading our way, the first one is going to give a snow event, Friday into Saturday, then a gap so snow should be around for a few hours, then the second band which will quickly bring rain behind a small band of snow. By Sunday morning it's looking like a big drip...

Well that's certainly better than just an all rain event.

Imagine the big drip preceded by just rain - BORING

I'll take a few hours snowfall before turning to rain, rather than rain all the way, anyday.

  10. I couldn't agree more mate! Even if we see a few hours of snow falling, before turning to rain, it was good while it lasted. Plus its better than having rain all the way anyway, i have 10cm here still so any additional snow will pile on, though expected it to all be gone as we head into next week... :)

    Exactly mate.

John Hammond is really ramping a major snow event for Friday including this region, warnings will be updated today he said.
