  1. It does appear its 20cm, 15cm maybe 2cm possibly 5cm or more. Or all rain.

My confidence in tomorrow evenings forecast is 0%

I am going to wait and see.

Me too, I think I'm going to come off the forum and just wait for tomorrow!

So many "know it alls" in here thinking they can predict if it will snow, better than the pros.

Stick with good old fashioned TV forecasts!

At the moment we all look good for snowfall and BBC/Meto confirm. But still others arguing this is wrong!

It may all go wrong - cest la vie!

  2. And if you read the quote they are talking about tweaking the warnings,

Tweaking the warnings for good or bad?

    Exactly we don't know!

Anyway Ian F is a great guy but his predictions and "inside info" for my area have been pretty inaccurate during this cold spell.

And I also find his quotes do not even match Meto predictions!

Stop hating and just be happy that the north of the region might get some snow before the rain arrives

Everyone's acting as if Ian F has said "no snow"

    He said "less amounts"

  3. astonished, by this post. Gfs 12z is only 24hrs,given.showing solid agree, for up to 4/8hrs of snow for london as a whole.thats without met, latest forecasts going solid on same wavelength.london could do fantastic out of the dreaded atlantic over coming 24/38.hrs.with being east with cold holding firmer longer......!!!!!????.

Unfortunately 'tight isobar' some will do everything in their power to lead people to think snow chances are off for tomorrow!

Meto/BBC/warnings/twitter/some models all pointing to snowfall London North tomorrow starting from 9pm :-)

Of course it could all go t**ts up tomorrow but of course - it might not!

Let's not all forget how bad the GFS performed during this cold spell ppn wise and how spot on the NAE was... Yeah we have all forgotten that haven't we!!

I think a few people should read Ian Ferguson's post on the previous page, downplaying 'meaningful' snow in the se.

    He said - less amounts

    Hardly downplaying!

    What? 2cm instead of 5cm - I'll take that

  4. Milder, wetter weather to melt snow

    TheMetOffice

Parts of Britain will see further heavy snowfall on Friday before milder, wet and windy conditions bring a thaw http://bit.ly/Y14G6D

Warnings are in place for ice, snow and rain. Keep up to date with your local weather warnings at: http://bit.ly/Weatherwarnings

Forecaster Anthony explains the change in weather in our video...

What the mild weather is going to melt the snow? Really? Never?

Talk about Meto stating the obvious, I'm sure even non weather geeks could come to that assumption! Lol

  5. The only thing that will really settle this now is a spell staying awake all tomorrow night into Saturday and looking up to the sky! laugh.png

Well I'll be at the pub until 11:30pm by which time it would have started snowing here anyway!

I don't think most snow lovers would be bothered that they have to wait up until the early hours. Especially as its the last snow for the foreseeable future!

  6. Absolutely, they have been top notch. They don't get enough credit for that, people are far too quick to slate them for the slightest inaccuracy. Fair play to them if they are right on this too; they (arguably) know a little more about the weather than me. Maybe.

That's what I was saying earlier, the Beeb usually do really well in these set ups!

But with members on here saying the complete opposite to what the BBC TV forecasters tells, it can become very confusing!

  7. I'm with Paul S. and some of the guys on this one, I think any settling snow only likely north of London and probably only .temporary.

South of the M4 corridor perhaps a short period of wet snow, then v.much rain I'm afraid.

The only caveat being what Steve M.allured to, if that SW struggles to move east, then perhaps a longer period of snow for all but with the Atlantic, pushing through eventually.

Just a quick point on the Feb.2009 Th/Str. (Would highly recommend Paul. S's analysis, top read), how anybody could suggest that was a period of mod. snow, is beyond me!

Snowfall distribution was v.unusual and out of character with normal Thames streamer events. Just from IMBY perspective, you would normally expect Bromley to have the greater depth than Croydon, it was the reverse on this occassion.

Croydon town centre around 8" ( Not Yamkins, my assessment!), Bromley 6/7".

My experience locally is that snowfall normally becomes lighter Bromley westwards.

Finally, just a clip of that event in all its glory. Remember being up and posting with the likes of Steve M. and Paul S., etc.

It definitely was heavy snow at tmes, with some intense cells over our area. At Lee S.E.12 4 cracks of thunder during the early hours!

    Regards,

    Tom

Well it's you and Paul against the BBC then. Although Meto do favour South London Northward!

Lunchtime forecast still shows heavy snow across most of region tomorrow!

I really hope the Beeb are correct and most in this region get to enjoy a couple hours snowfall at least before the mild dross!
