  1. Morning fellow snow freaks! So, that'll be the end of the white stuff up here then. Woke to rain, snow disappearing fast, but at least the road behind my house will be less like a skating rink. We are back to near sub tropical temper that we usually have at this time of year, 4.2c. Now we have a sleet shower, a heavy sleet shower. And yesterday was so beautiful!
  2. Beautiful crisp, clear day here. Highest temp over Friday and Saturday was 2.4c on both days. Lowest was early hours of this morning, down to -3.6c. been a long time since it was that cold. currently at 0.7c and not looking as if it'll go much higher. Just a few flurries of snow yesterday, what's lying measures about an inch. Wowsers. Not.
  3. Not much more in the way of heavy snowfall since this morning, just a few graupely showers. But my, it's CAULD! Temp currently 1.8c and that's about the highest so far today. Stove doing good service in the kitchen, just chopped a load more logs so am nice and tingly! And those pics I was going to take? Camera kaput! Well, it is an antique, I bought it in 2005!
  4. Would you believe it? It's Blawin' a proper blizzard oot there! About 7 this morning there was the merest dusting of lying graupel and now it's a white out! I don't expect it to last though but it looks great! I hear kiddies squealing with delight somewhere so I guess the sledges are out! Will try and get some pictures later.
  5. Absolutely hee haw in the way of white stuff here. We've had horizontal rain, hail and sleet and the temp has dropped as low as 0.9c today so it will be interesting to see what the next few days bring. As usual my hopes will not be built up.
  6. Relatively calm at the moment which is a bit surprising. Just checked several forecasts for my area and wind speeds downgraded considerably. It's certainly a bit blustery but I've heard a lot worse! However, it's early yet, things may change as the day goes on!
  7. And the first casualty of Caroline ( and she's no even here yet! ) .......... telly signal gone, not that it's such a bad thing!
  8. Met Office have now upgraded storm to Amber warning. Hhhmmmmm, that's a wee bit worrying!
  9. A wee bit blustery this morning and so mild! All change tomorrow so best get the rest of my batteries charged up!
  10. Oh I am HC, I am! Plenty of wood chopped and enough coal to last into next week, loads of batteries, oil lamps to be filled and trimmed, check level of gas canister for cooking. Yeah, I think we can batten everything down and just sit it out!
  11. Aye well, if that comes off I could have a lot to worry about! We shall see and hope it downgrades.
  12. Well, looks like we may get a wee dusting of the white stuff at the weekend after all. The wind on Thursday could be a bigger concern as various forecasts have offered gusts of anything between 45mph and 73mph. Hmmmm. It'll be blawy either way and cauld along wi' it, so the thermals will be looked out in anticipation. Beer and wine stock checked, all good, freezer now stuffed full. Coal being delivered hopefully Thursday if weather allows and plenty of wood chopped. Thunderbirds are go!
  13. Dreich and murky morning here, going to be a meh sort of day. Anyone getting excited at the prospect of some white stuff arriving later this week?
  14. Lovely walk this afternoon, pretty pink skies as the sun went down. Nice and calm, sky may clear later so we might get a glimpse of the Big Moon. I'm trying hard not to get too excited about the possibility of snow later this week as I know I could well be disappointed. We shall see....
  15. Hee Haw in the way o' white stuff and the lowest temp yesterday was 0.8c. currently 3.9c and I expect we'll have a mild and wet weekend. Possibility of colder again by end of next week, albeit short lived?
  16. Don't know about snow, but we've had a lot of sleet and hail showers. Damned cauld an' a', currently 3.3c with a vicious wind. Warmer by the weekend by the looks of things, temps up to 8c. Whew!
  17. Lots of thick rain today accompanied by a Baltic wind. Returned from Car Boot Sale with more pennies for my Gin/Whisky fund. Happy days! And Scotland appear to be stuffing Australia at the rugby. So no a bad day today at all. Oh, spoke too soon, a penalty to Oz.......
  18. A wee dusting again here today, a bit more in Portree though. Temp down to -0.9c last night currently hovering around the 1/2c. Skies very heavy with Snaw, doubt we'll see much of it here.
  19. What snow???? We had a downpour of thick rain early this morning and that's been it! Some parts of the island have a nice coating, but only the mountains where I am have anything on them. Pretty Baltic though, temp down to -0.3c last night and struggling to get above 3c today. Looks bonnie though.
  20. Dry and calm here today, a big improvement on yesterday. A lot of rain fell but since the weather station is on strike I can't even tell you how much we had! I think the new weather station has to be put up soon and the old one relegated to the bin! Bet my last pound we won't see snow here over the next few days!
  21. I think I know which cottage you refer to! The wee one right by the ferry slipway perchance? If so, it's a wee cracker and very cosy! Pity the weather has taken a turn for the worse now, we had horizontal rain here last night, calmed down a bit now, but not looking great for the rest of the week. 6.1c at present and dreich with it.
  22. Fortunately no rain forecast this weekend so Frogesque in for a wee treat! Cold here this morning, but skies are clear. Weather station in the huff and not playing these days. Batteries have been in and out of the damn thing so often over last week. Think I'll disconnect everything and maybe talk the OH into putting up last year's Xmas pressie ....... Yes, a new weather station! Nae need tae rush, box still doesn't have that much dust on it yet!
