  1. As a silver haired hag on a measly civil service pension, yes I'm concerned. I'd love to see a few snowy days up here but all we usually get is some sleet and howling gales. I wouldn't mind a mildish winter just to save using the heating oil, but my log shed is full as is the coal bunker. If it gets mega cold I doubt I'd be able to keep the heating on too long, and as for the price of coal, well, lets just say intead of ordering 5 bags I'll just be ordering 2! Thermals will be the order of the day, and warm blankies to snuggle under on the sofa. I won't freeze but I just have to be very frugal with what I already have.

  2. Morning all! Well yesterday proved to be a lot warmer than forecast and for once all weather stations were reading from the same hymn sheet. They all clocked in at around 27c, quite humid with it. I checked the outdoor thermometer which faces north and is in the shade, the same, 27c. Cloudy all day and looks to be the same here again today. Looking forward to some cooler temps later in the week. 😃🌞🥵

  3. It's a wee bit cooler here today, current temp is 20c and light cloud with it. Was a bit uncomfortable at the weekend at night but improved a great deal last night. Glad I live in Auld Scotia. Next week's temps look totally brutal for those living south of the border. Looks like we'll hit a max of 21c here Monday/Tuesday which is as hot as I can take it. I forsee the electric fan coming into play early next week.

  4. Another heat hater here! Looks like I'll be lucky up here, temps forecast to hit high teens or low twenties Sunday/ Monday. That'll do me! If it gets any hotter I'll be indoors most of the day. All you guys south of the border, take care. Looks like it'll be absolutely brutal. ☹️

  5. Orkney is a great place @snowidea, you'll maybe not want to go home! Up here we're still lighting fires and I caved in yesterday morning and put the heating on for an hour as it was so damp and dreich. Got the oil tank filled last week, took less than I expected so I've made a bit of a saving there. On the other hand I also got a new boiler installed and have just had the bill for that! EEEK! Might need to sell the family silver! Sun's just come out so depending on the midge count I may well spend some time in the garden today. Glutton for punishment me.

  6. Afternoon all! Yesterday was an absolute belter and the first we've seen here for several weeks. It's been mainly cloudy, drizzly and dreich, not to mention cauld here, but things are definitely looking up! Blue skies ATM, but cloud building up and very, very muggy. Temp is 20c and I'm wondering whether I should bother watering the veggies later on as we're forecast rain overnight. If I water them it'll rain. If I don't, it won't. Typical dilema, eh?

  7. Well, well! What's this? Four, yes, four days of unbroken sunshine!!!  It's actually too hot now to do any gardening so will potter around indoors for the rest of the day. Looks like it'll be good till Wednesday when we see the start of the rain again. Making the most of it while I can!!

  8. Greetings all, with apologies for my absence! Managed to get a holiday in Sweden last month ( but nearly had to cancel as the passport was playing hide and seek! However, the offending article was found and the holiday went ahead. Phew! ) Only been trying to get there for nigh on two years and it was worth the wait. Big Sis and I stayed with friends and the weather played fair, with sunshine every day but -3 or -4 each night. Stayed very close to lovely woodland area and enjoyed some lovely walks.

Since I've been back we've had rain, windiness, more rain and a teeny, teeny touch of sunshine. Was promised some of that today. Where is it? ☁️It's still cool enough to have a fire on in the evening though. Currently 12.4c with cloud and showers. Roll on spring.

  9. Nice to see all the snowy pics. Had no snow whatever where I am but some parts in the north of the island got a few inches. Once again snow is forecast here later this week but as usual I'll bet it doesn't come anywhere near me! Been loving the sunshine and spring temps although we got a shock this week when overnight it went down to -2c on a couple of occasions. Nice morning here but am now awaiting the rain which is heading my way. Bummer. ?️

  10. Greetings all Kilties! Up until Friday the weather was soooo boring with miserable grey skies and drizzle. Since Friday we've had wall to wall sunshine and I've been quite happy pottering in the garden and getting the raised beds prepped. Wall to wall sunshine and lovely spring temps, although it does look like it  *might* get a wee bit nippy by the end of the month.  Keeping an eye on that and hoping it might not get so cold.

  11. Morning all! Yesterday.... gorgeous clear blue skies and pleasant temp at around 9.4c. Today, dreich, miserable pish,  temp 7.9c. My central heating is playing up and my telephone landline isn't working. Message to SSE re phone, contacted builder friend re central heating. So what's going to go wrong next? These things come in threes apparently!

  12. Well Dudley is bypassing Skye so I won't bother with the tealights and candles. As for predicted snow on Friday, if XC says snow you can bet it'll turn out to be sleety pish as per usual!. Stay safe today those of you in the path of Dudley and those of you forecast to get snow, I hope it arrives in bucket loads! ?️?️❄️☃️

  13. Good morning all! Hope you've all survived Corrie with minimal damage. That image of the fallen tree Snowandrocks, WOW! Are you the lucky one! It did get quite breezy between 6 & 7 last night and the lights did flicker more than they did during Malik's appearance but no power loss. Heading down to Stirling today, should have been going on Saturday but Malik had other ideas! Calmer here now but temp dropped overnight to 2.6c. Don't think there's any power outages in Skye but the Highlands are once again leccyless.

Quite blustery here just now but tomorrow morning is going to be helluva lot worse. Take care out there folks, could be a nasty one! ?️
