Weird, can suddenly hear stuff on the velux windows, we now have a mixture of flakes and pellets!

Snowing quite heavily here now, starting to settle on cars, grass etc, albeit still only a faint dusting...

Started to sleet, expecting it to turn to snow as we seem to be in the firing line.

An over riding sense of relief this morning !
The UKMO is an improvement even though it takes some shortwave energy east not as much as last night.
You’d still want more margin of error though .
Overall the models that weren’t interested are now moving in the right direction .
The ECM and GFS are variations on the same theme from last night . In terms of snow off any easterly to be honest it’s pointless worrying about convective potential at this stage . Two reasons models are hopeless at picking that up in the longer range and we don’t know the exact strength of the flow and other factors this far out .
I still think we need one more full set of runs just to be sure and hopefully we can have no more dramas!
Perfect charts for big snowfalls next week on the north side of the Pyrenees Nick! If you are still in that neck of the woods?

That's an evil little squall line developing!

Can someone please remind me when we last saw any measurable rainfall in S.W London? Many thanks.

The heavy rain last night was quite impressive. A few flashes and rumbles as well in the distance.
Yes, last night's rain here in Twickenham was extraordinary - we were absolutely in the sweet spot.

Heavy snow here now!

Is it just wishful thinking for us west/south-west Londoners or is this stream making some progress south-west - even if it's building rather than actually moving that way. A few flakes here but nothing more yet. Right on edge (in more ways than one!).

Looks game on for much of London over the next few hours, in-line with both MET and BBC graphics, even if they haven't really mentioned it...

Wow! that was one of the best "stand-alone" snow showers I have had ever seen in London. 1-2cm on cars in 20mins or less. -2c now.

3rd shower in 90 minutes here. Each time it leaves a tiny dusting of dandruff which mostly melts before the arrival of the next! Liking the look of that one approaching the City though, bit more oomph!

I am currently near Winchester and have just had one of the most impressive squalls I have ever seen in the UK. Blew huge wheelie bin across garden!

I can confirm it is turning to wet snow here.

Hint of sleet now here but you still need a trained eye!

fizzling out again here but can't complain, nice covering on cars, grass etc. Maybe a bit more later?

I've never seen such unpredictable local changes every 5 minutes on the radar. Keeps it interesting. Certainly pepping up over London right now...
