This may help you to assess your flood risk.Currently you are on alert - (and I'm assuming the risk is from coastal not river/watercourse flooding where your property is?). The time to start worrying is if it turns to warning.

    https://www2.sepa.org.uk/frmstrategies/pdf/lpd/LPD_02_Sources.pdf

When I was on a flood warning in my previous house in Sussex, (flash flood stream) , I used to  put valuable stuff on tops of shelves/sofa/table etc, pick electric gang sockets off the floor. lift curtains up onto the window sill etc.  I was lucky I had two storeys so as well as the laptop/phone/handbag/insurance policies etc, all the guinea pigs went upstairs in the bathroom in pet carriers for the duration (we did all have to be rescued by the firemen once on that fateful 20th  July 2007 before we had a food warning system- water inside the house that day  was 18" and only took 45 minutes from when the rain started .....I always ensured everything was 1m off the ground after that)

Hopefully you wont go up an alert level but if you do, then take action as coastal flooding under these conditions could happen very quickly !!

Thank you so much I really appreciate it. Yes Coastal the Atlantic is not far from my doorstep lol so that’s my worry not the winds I’m used to them since moving here. But this one coincides with the high tides and now some tornado warnings for some people. Thank you very much again 😊🙏

Yes, same. I'm sure your neighbours in the area will be much more clued up than us lot, but all the same I'll be thinking of you up there!

Thanks very remote just a few crofters around my area and sheep, deer etc. I’ll put a video from the other week shows you me walking from my Croft down to the Atlantic etc. give you an idea of my area.

I don't live there so wouldn't have a clue. Do whatever the flood warning thing tells you to do?

Thank you here are a few images marked with my location here in the outer hebrides. I’m on the northwest coast of the Isle of Lewis, the Atlantic is on my doorstep. Also it’s lightning on and off at the moment. But the storm will arrive later tonight and coincide with high tides here it says and I checked one app for that time it says waves up to 5.8 meters.

    images below.

  5. Any idea what I can expect I now live in the Outer Hebrides since 2021. But I had a flood warning on an app never had one since I’ve moved here. Strongest storm was my first year 111mph winds but this storm coincides with high tides and the Atlantic is basically on my doorstep on the northwest of Isle of Lewis in Garenin.

I checked as the storm not properly arrived here yet it’s windy but not here till later tonight. Waves it says up to 5.8 meters. I put a few images and my location marked.

nice to be back here I missed this place 😊

  6. Just put my little forecast for the coming week or so by viewing the current models and using my own techniques for anyone interested.

Wintry mix from now until mid week with some large accumulations. Friday onwards there will be some quite remarkable accumulations of snow for Scotland and the Dundee area.

The South East of the UK will see up to or near 15 inch or more with Bedford and the surrounding counties seeing large accumulations.

The midlands will also see large accumulations. Many parts of south west UK will not be spared!

Looking beyond February have a date for a weather event which showed up and will play out from around the 14 to 16th March.

  7. Not a poor outlook for cold fans though with some severe frosts towards the end of the week and staying cold/sunny with cold >-5C 850 hPa air covering the country, you have a very negative way at looking at things ian and its no wonder posters get agitated by you so you get no sympathy from me for the way posters treated you last night.

The winter officially is coming to an end now and its been a cold one so far, i guess you`ll be posting like this in the spring too when people are looking for warmth, :)

http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn9017.png - Very cold night thursday.

http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn10210.png - Nice crisp dewpoints with lots of sunshine

http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn10217.png - Cold day for the vast majority, no 8C or 9C for most.

Yes spring will be upon us soon maybe! but you can get snow even in June! lol not as I remember but I have been told this.

I am pleased with the models of late and do indeed think that a lot are underestimating the snow potential here.

  8. I have been using a variety of methods to perfect my model forecasting including a prototype weather box. I use traditional model interpretation methods and very untraditional spiritual/radiowaves and think I have perfected the way I do my forecasting to nearly 100% with my prototype.

    Thanks for your support! :whistling:

Just remember to wrap up warm next week in preparation for Snowmageddon UK style :yahoo:

  9. From what I see of the 12z things are perfectly on track for exactly the kind of setup I expected. With a huge prolonged widespread snow event so close and upgrades that will follow in subsequent runs there is everything to play for.

I may view and interpret things in the models differently from some on here but my method looks flawless with everything falling into place.

  10. Do you work for the Daily Express! you were already told off some more experienced members that your earlier statement regarding the 18z was way off the mark! So what do you do, come out with the same nonsense after the 00z :)

I am just going by what I see and the models are indicating exactly the kind of weather I predicted.

Only time will tell if I was right or wrong. I am sticking to my guns on this because it's clear to see what they show.

  11. evening Robert, would you include London as "southern Counties" ??

So come on guys, lets have a 3 day forecast on the latest models. from what i have seen its going to be dry/cold/frosty/showers on eastern side of UK and the odd shower moving across UK NE to SW :)

Evening Maf, yes I would include London and surrounding counties in with a excellent chance of a winter wonderland!

Let's see what the 18z brings, but to be honest things could come down to a 48hr out model watching with this setup.
