Had our snow fix today here in South Yorkshire, hours of heavy Snow giving a good covering even at low level locations, must have been a complete whiteout higher up.

Winds really picking up here in South Yorkshire now, its more of a Westerly direction than Sunday's storm which can cause some severe gusts just East of Pennines.

Wind really starting to get up now here. More of a Westerly direction than Sunday's storm so could get quite nasty overnight.

Just a wet and blustery day here in South Yorkshire, expecting winds to pick when clearer conditions arrive later.
Hopefully nothing too bad with maximum gusts 45-50mph.

Too much of southerly component for us hence only 53mph max gust.
I mentioned other day on social media that South Yorkshire doesn't do too bad when wind is from South West, it always seems to be worst when its a straight Westerly, possibly winds coming through valleys to west and speeding up as it runs down into our area.

Wind at LBA currently 190-220 25 gusting 39 knots so more or less a straight crosswind. Both of tonights Aer Lingus are cancelled but there's a few Jet 2's due later. I'll listen in on my scanner but will be surprised if they attempt an approach. Kudos to any pilots flying tonight.
Only flown from their a couple of times, never again during winter.

Pax on EIN55N from Lyon to Dublin must be getting sick of spinning around on hold for the past hour.
Trying a different route now by looks of it, maybe another airport.

Lots of areas of North West England are seeing lots of snow this morning.
The system that was expected to bring snow to Southern Scotland is much further south.
We've had a few flurries here in South Yorkshire.
Those of you down South shouldn't worry, your turn might come next winter.

A general sense of resounding defeat among the model chasers today, I'm guessing February isn't expected to deliver anything spectacular?
February is over a fortnight away, it might deliver some very wintry weather and it might deliver wet and/or mild weather, no one knows right now, if models can get everything wrong 7-10 days away they ain't worth looking at 14-21 days away.

Toys, dummies and lot being thrown out of prams today.
It's only the weather, its not life or death.
Looking at comments in other thread it looks to me like those ramping are Southern based and it's looking like the system that was going to give the snow people were hoping for isn't coming there way now.
The cold is still on it's way and there's still a possibility of developments from North in flow. These won't show up until within 24 hours of development.
If not like already mentioned its worth keeping an eye on things towards end of month.

Ah, the old UK high, great news for the Greeks, boring for us.
I hope that is not where we finish up
A UK high won't be such a bad thing, if these very wet conditions continue we'll all need web feet by end of January.

Still just rain here
Very annoying, work friend lives only a few miles away near Hoyland and they've got snow falling.

Think we might see some snow tonight into tomorrow, with further accumulations. But obviously not the same when there will be an immediate thaw after.
Yeah think there are definitely bigger cold spells to come, fingers crossed.
I'm not expecting a big thaw until about Thursday, the system coming in tonight should stay to the South of us and once it clears it should stay cold with a ridge of high pressure with night frosts. Even when system coming in on Thursday we might see some snow on its leading edge before it turns a bit milder.

You know when met office say snow over hills or high ground.how high we talking.because I'm 180m above sea level does that count?
I always class hills as around 400 to 800 ft and high ground going on 1000ft and above.
No idea what this is in meters. I'm old school.

Anything can happen in these setups fingers crossed for Yorkshire
That's correct, just because there's little showing for end of week now doesn't mean we won't get some snow come the time.
One thing I have just noticed is that the radar is showing snow falling in North sea just off East coast of Scotland, so now we know that despite the warmish North sea the air incoming is cold enough for snow.
As long as everything keeps coming from North East it will get very interesting this and next week as the air becomes even colder and the warmish North sea can hopefully turn into snow making machine.

Great chart, but is it 3-4 weeks too early?
Very late November 2010 we had record snowfall and temperatures sub zero with a similar set up, if the air is cold enough the warm North sea can help to intensify the snowfall.

Just passed 80mm here and it's still bright yellow in radar
Will we get to 100 before it eases north???
Touch and go but we just might make it, shame its not all fallen as Snow.
This set up around end of this year and it might have done.

14c on school run. I just froze my boobs off in a jumper!
It got down to minus 4 in parts of Scotland last night, I'm not sure how you would have managed with that cold.

Feels very much like autumn here in South Yorks this morning, much cooler and not stopped raining.

Feels more like winter than summer today, heavy rain and a quite cool 13'c.
Pity those holidaying here in UK with this weather, next week looks unsettled too.
