    An official ice day here in Penicuik due to cloud cover and seriously cold uppers, a max temp today of -1c amazing considering its the 23rd March!!

    Fingers crossed the front does stay further south, will be quite happy with convective snow showers coming in off the North Sea than another 24hrs of the drab wet stuff

    Going by GFS charts we are looking at 8.5mm precip between now and midnight for the Penicuik area that could be impressive!!

    4 inches level snow in Penicuik decent drifts as well, whiteout conditions at present!! Is the convection going to pep up once this front clears anyone??

    Whiteout right now in Penicuik, a combination of snow falling and drifting off the tops of the roofs is making for very poor visibility!!

    Rain is turning more to snow here at Craiglockhart Edinburgh!!

    Penicuik town centre sits at 189m asl, up the top of the hill at Cornbank we are about 220m asl so a decent altitude for marginal events, but I think Monday night and throughout Tuesday we will all be sharing in the fun, as long as there is no last minute changes!!!

    Sleet has turned to heavy snow within the last hour and lying on all surfaces, looks like a interesting few days ahead!!

    Well back in Penicuik now, 5 inches level snow on my outside table, drifts almost 2 feet up my back door impressive for march, looks like the north sea snow machine has lost the energy for east Scotland!! Still plenty showers NE Eng south!!

    That's the best blizzard I have seen in Edinburgh since 2010, drifting snow the lot!! U see drifting in Penicuik every winter due to location but it's quite rare in the city centre!!
