Hi All,
Is the snow band heading east? or west?
Its seems to be trying to pulling out of London and heading a bit east.
maybe the front is heading NW, and the ppn is rotating around the centre of the low, so will be different directions depending on location....again only a newbie so don't shoot if barking up the wrong tree
-
thtas what i was thinking is it going north or northwest?
thpugh it was all going north?
when i put the wind arrows on the radar they came up as easterly over the sea then when inland a bit of marginal North in them...the bright ppn will probably track West/North west across the region, however i am a newbie so could be miles off
-
Ahh well only 7 days away, no not FI, this is nailed on.....
nailed on 7 days from now???? sarcasm right??
-
its over the coast at the moment looking at it felixstowe to yarmouth are info a dumping
yeah i'm watching it on radar, very slow moving....just hoping it keeps heading west
-
Steve do you think the brighter colours out in the north sea will make it inland?? how do you see mid Norfolk fairing? I keep watching the radar and although it has been snowing powdery snow here for an hour the heavier ppn doesn't seem to be making major inroads?
-
watching the animation on the netweather radar it looks like all the bright yellow will EVENTUALLY make its way across Norfolk??
-
is it just me or is all the ppn that is leaving Belgium curling round towards the Suffolk / Norfolk coast?
-
finally some flakes coming down, the fine powdery stuff....looking at radar i'd say still a couple of hours before main course is served
-
do the models use historic data about the way certain fronts / systems / interact with others when predicting what will happen or was that all programmed in at the start of the models programming??? sorry if in wrong thread mods
-
Just got excited as I saw a big flake drift past the window...before I realised it was the kids dropping feathers from the upstairs window!!!! ho ho ho lol
-
Well, the thaw is slowly accelerating. So, I guess I've got to -0.2 on the Murr Scale...12cm befor 1800? Pull the other one!
watching the radar I [touch wood] think we could see significant snow by this evening / tonight, look on the euro radar at the fronts heading out of France / Belgium, I think i'm right in saying they should only increase in intensity as they cross the water, and look to be heading to Suffolk and Norfolk??
still have a very good covering on the ground from Mondays snow event as well
decision to make....watch the football or the radar...gotta watch united really, usually a goal fest
-
some very bright colours over central Belgium and Belgium coast.....hopefully that is what will make its way over later....anyone got any views on this??
-
Bugger me, I'll have died of old-age by the time the snow gets here!
if it gets here....i'm sitting about 5 miles north of that norwich to peterborough line TEITS was on about and it just seems to have stopped!!!
-
Just a quickie to explain the rest of the day.
The lighter band currently across us is expected to expand and intensify this morning whilst at the same time the area of snow to our SE continues to move WNW. Areas such as Cromer in the NE of this region could have a bit of a wait until it arrives this afternoon.
Heaviest snowfalls predicted by the NAE suggest a line from Norwich to Peterborough although only be a few cm.
i'm dead in between Norwich and Peterborough....is that a good thing TEITS? i'm only a newbie, but the intensity of snow on the radar [the really bright yellows] will surely give a good dumping [providing it reaches us]??
-
wow...just look at all those bright colours queuing up ready to give us a good old dumping, hopefully they will gain in intensity while crossing the channel/north sea...I can see more snow than predicted coming from these anyone think the warning will get upgraded?
-
In what respect
with regards to snow fall over "the whole" of our region, earlier it seemed to bypass Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, and jump straight up to Lincolnshire.....will be nice to see another reasonable covering
-
seems the BBC has played catch up with the models watching the latest online forecast
-
Since 2005 I rarely ever watch the BBC forecast or use their website. The models and radar are enough for me. Far too much focus is put on the BBC graphics in my opinion.
That is my point exactly....how can something that is so relied on by so many not be a little more reliable, granted forecasting is difficult at this moment in time, but were there to be a really major snow event and they don't get it right or sit on the fence so much it is unclear, that could leave some people up the proverbial creek!!
-
love the way the BBC website forecasts keep having the snow bypass east anglia, despite models saying otherwise!!!! it is frustrating as I dare say many people rely on that for their weather information!!
-
OK, looking at tomorrow and I've pinched a few charts from the NW Extra NMM suite and look how it builds in a totally different way from yesterday, Those that missed out in the last days should surely see lots tomorrow?
where does it track after that? seeing as i'm in mid/north Norfolk and wont get it until later on, does it stick with us for a bit as the BBC forecast suggests or move through quicklyy?
-
In what way did it differ? I've seen the website forecast but not the live one.
The live forecast has east Anglia blanketed in snow...the website really played it down didn't you think?
-
How on earth can the BBC breakfast's live weather forecast differ so much from the updated at 08:18 weather forecast on the website....the mind boggles lol
-
2 hours sleep is never a good thing just played the radar back and the snow flirted with my town for a couple of hours before buggering off!! typical lol....oh well onward and upwards for Sunday
-
actually might not make it my way....might give up model watching for tonight and just see what, if anything mother nature has brought me in the morning...nn folks
