looks like i'll be radar watching for the next couple of hours as some of those brighter blobs are on a collision course with my house!!! now to just try stay awake
-
Those heavier showers in Essex at present seem to be progressing north at a reasonable pace now.....fingers crossed i'll catch some before I fall asleep
-
wonder if that giant blob over the channel and northern France will keep tracking North and make it to Norfolk
-
This should make a few of you smile while waiting for the radar to refresh
-
looks like the East of our region will have to wait until Sunday to see anymore decent accumulations I believe....been very light snow here for past few hours although not really amounting to much.
-
Any help/advice here?
I have to leave the 'Boro at 4pm today for a job tonight in Northampton, not due to leave there again until about 9pm ish.
Can we have a little poll? For safety reasons only, should I stay or should I go?
Thanks all (in advance)
stay

That's the spirit. Hope you're right.
PS. My cat has just sat on my keyboard and typed this. rrrrrrrrrrrrerrrrrrrrrrrrrttttttt96855555555555555555555 - Can anyone speak "cat"?
just asked my cat and he responded "rrrrrrrrrrrrerrrrrrrrrrrrrttttttt96855555555555555555555 means major snow for our region over the weekend"
hope this helps

Is anyone else currently suffering the same worries as me?
1) Today will be a non-event in our region with minimal amounts of snow for EA.
2) Tomorrow will see some light and insignificant snow.
3) Snow will stay out in North Sea on Sunday
4) Those rain/sleet symbols for Monday on the Met Office website yesterday will wash it all away.
well that's a glass half empty approach I must say....mine is half full
1) Today will be a huge event with epic snow in our region.
2) Tomorrow will see heavy significant snow.
3) Heavy convective showers coming off the north sea to swamp us.
4) Those rain/sleet symbols for Monday will be turned to snow symbols and give us a right old dumping again.
well here is hoping I guess lol

just want the winds to pick up a bit and send the blob about 50 miles west before continuing north west...then I will be happy, although there is a little bit of fine snow falling at the minute
-
Just said on Look East that a warning is now in force for THE BLOB!
covering where please?
-
I know were all concentrating on friday/sat's snow band and how far east it may get but the convection opportunities are looking excellent for this region for later in the weekend and beyond. Looking like there could be some real beefy showers about spreading well inland at times too. We have all see in recent days especialy those in north norfolk what a snow making machine the north sea can be.
exactly, i just ran the radar over 2 hours and the "blob" just gets stronger and stronger as it gathers up moisture next week looking very good indeed, AND that's after this weekends events
-
the blob just seem's to be sitting there, gaining intensity....just not moving lol

TEITS.....how do you see things panning out mid to long term....I know hard to forecast, but are you along the line of thinking that the freezer door has been well and truly shut??
-
Just watched the main BBC forecast and Look East on the website.....looking good for the whole of our region
Also just been out and about and all the gritters I saw had snow plough attachments fitted...a sign maybe??
-
For those in Norfolk and that were hit Monday. Look at the GFS PPN for this evening between 9pm and midnight. Looks interesting?
have you got a link or can you post a chart as i'm on my mobile now..thanks?

big blob to the north of the wash...hopefully heading my way!!

06z nae is big this morning. From my recollection of 2009/10, placement of features doesnt shift around much within 24 hrs of the onset. We may have passed this point already but the 06z will either cement the areas of snowfall for tomorrow or throw up a bit of a surprise. (Like the 00z runs have done wrt to n ireland).
currently looks like a 2 to 6 cms for the region.
The bad news this morning is next tues/wed with the occlusion getting right into the midlands and a sw flow for us. returning south thereafter but the worst run we've seen for a while. i would discount it but ukmo/ecm/gem all in agreement
do you think the block will re-assert itself? how do you see this panning out mid term BA?
-
yes very confusing for me as a newbie, as i'm not yet fully able to understand the models and confidently draw my own conclusions, even Look East was saying snow for Friday and Sunday with +cm possible both days
-
Does anyone want to try and get to Eastbourne this weekend, GFS says it will still be snowing all the way through to Sunday!!!!
What do you reckon?
Hi Coast, should we take any notice of those precipitation charts? i'd happily bank that, but read so many posts in model forum saying they should be ignored?? then other people taking the NAE precipitation as gospel??
-
OK, i'm confused now....BBC breakfast weather just said the snow will reach all areas and we are still under an amber weather warning...Model forum all doom and gloom saying it wont even reach east midlands and has gone North West etc [which it has by look of things]......confused.com

I did hear a funny one regards the helicopter crash, but seeing as people lost their lives not sure if appropriate, even though not directly about it, but here goes, if anyone is offended please delete it.
BREAKING NEWS: Arsene Wenger has just announced 2 major signings for Arsenal...they were due to be arriving at the Emirates around mid day by helicopter!!!
