  1. I have to go on a journey from the road I live in to the road 20 metres away on Monday. I'm wondering if the extreme weather might hinder my journey. This will be from North Lowestoft, to another road in North Lowestoft. I will obviously pack the essentials for the trip: Ice pick, Shovel, Sleeping Bag, Scotch, Extra Cigarettes. Do any of the more knowledgeable weather enthusiasts think I should not attempt such a perilous undertaking?
  2. If the snow is half as deep as your Signature on here I would be pleased.
  3. Thought I should post this link on how to Build An Igloo Thanks again for the warning.
  4. So glad you told me about London getting a foot of snow on Monday night, many thanks. I might have got caught out by that. I will take a shovel and build an igloo along the embankment and spend the night there. Thanks again.
  5. Beautiful day here on the east coast. Now for a walk on the beach, followed by a pub lunch. Perfect.
  6. I think in the world of pure science I would put Computer Model Forecasting right up there with Astrology. Chilly and dull here on the east coast.
  7. Anyone who complains about not having a lamppost is obviously too tight to go out and buy their own LAMPPOST.
  8. Even if it's a blizzard outside over the next few days I am going to stay glued to my computer and wait for the next Forecast Model Run to find out if it will be still snowing in 10 days time. I might miss the fun while it happens, but I will get great satisfaction in telling everyone it won't last. Welcome to the world of the Model Thread.
  9. Just found out the film Groundhog Day was based on the Model Discussion thread at Netweather.
  10. So this post by you earlier where you state, "normally I'd back the ECM over any other model by a long, long distance but I'm not so sure here. Especially as this run has 6hrs more data. Still very much 50-50 I'd say either way." Does that mean in less than two hours you have gone from 50-50 to 80-20 in favour of cold?
  11. Model Forum Today: 7am unhappy, no snow and will be mild forever. 10.30am happy, total whiteout, UK will be shut down by blizzards. 12.30pm unhappy, brief cold spell, followed by mild.
  12. Another day, another completely different forecast from the billion dollar computer models. Anyone considering telling the poor souls who are addicted to the the Model Forum that they should get out more?
  13. Would it be cruel to tell the Model Watchers that they are watching computer models day after day that appear not to be working very well? Or would that just spoil their fun?
  14. I love reading the Model Discussion thread. The expert model watchers predict after studying all the computer output that it will be cold this winter at some point. I predict after reading the Sporting Life that a horse will win the Grand National. Pretty sure we will both be right.
  15. Has anyone considered building their own computer weather model and just feeding it information that would produce perfect winter charts. Then you could post it on here when people are sad and make everyone happy again. I know the real weather wouldn't match what the model was showing, but that would be no different from the so called "professional" models. And with your own Fantasy Model you could all just make out that it was snowing outside, and keep looking at the wonderful charts. I was asked by the Samaritans to try and come up with an idea to try and help some of the more distressed members of this forum. Have a lovely evening.
  16. My charity North Sea swim on New Years Day is going to be positively balmy this year. Feel a bit of a fraud, but what the hell.
  17. Proper winter weather http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-20817551
  18. We had a discussion today at work about what kinds of hobbies attract people who might fall within the autistic spectrum disorder boundaries. Top of the list was Train, and Plane spotters, and then came extreme weather enthusiasts. It would certainly be an interesting project for anyone considering a career in mental health.
  19. I'm just one of the many hundreds of people who have no idea how to read the weather models that are discussed in this forum, so all I'm looking for is an honest opinion of what the experts are seeing. I understand that due to some individuals extreme weather bias they might see these charts through snow covered goggles. One thing that seems to be missing is when some so called experts get their predictions so badly wrong they haven't got the courage to say "I messed up." Most reasonable people would accept this, so be brave, you got it wrong, so what.
  20. Since the first mention of this mythical "Beast from the East" was touted on here a few days ago I have been using this site to feed the obsessional part of my personality. Now the "Beast" has disappeared I can thankfully break this obsession and get back to relative normality. Cheerio until the next time.
  21. The people in the Model Discussion place are clutching at so many straws I'm pretty sure they could build a house for one of the three little pigs.
