London & South East Regional Discussion - January 19th 2013>
Tamara replied to Snowangel-MK's topic in Regional
There should be no problem with tomorrow - I posted some NAE charts a couple of pages back which show snow and freezing temperatures. Its from Monday and thereafter where things are less favourable in general- 1,325 replies

Clearly we live in very different parts of the same local area as it snowing nicely out my window and I am getting some extra coverage finally to the thin covering of earlier . Without giving my address away I am the Winchelsea side of Rye - think A259 from the seafront of Hastings but further east. Icklesham etc?- 1,325 replies

Its looking good for that pivot - the radar suggests some heavier snow about to arrive than now - and it is snowing quite well already. I think you are especially well placed for this - enjoy!- 1,325 replies

Starting to snow properly here again - and that radar looks good!!. The snow is still dry both from the sky and on the ground and the frost is holding well- 1,325 replies

Enjoyed a bit of the clump, but would like to see some of the French blobs and smaller blobettes pivot now, if they can adjust themselves for me- 777 replies

I wonder if the SST's in the channel have started up streamers? The ppn keeps developing and then moving towards us *not that she is complaining*- 777 replies

The Ridge usually does well in situations like this with snow. I drove to Fairlight this afternoon and although there was a trace dusting, the snow was like sifted flour, forming dunes against anything where the wind carried it. With a heavier snowfall and more snow on the ground it would have looked stunning with powdery drifts
-
I'm not at all far from you - strange how localised it can be. I've had steady moderate, occasionally quite heavy snow, for the last 45 mins or so
-
That ppn (snow) area has organised itself recently in the channel just offshore - looks well placed
-
According to the NAE there is a heavier area of snow around the SE coast area this evening - and that seems to tie in well with what is happening outside the window. 'The clump' as christened early this afternoon and that was over western parts of Sussex is coming to a more eastern town near you Large flakes whizzing past the lamp post Keep going - you know you want to.. . A while yet before the sledge can come out, but at least there is an actual covering rather than a dusting now
-
Went out this afternoon and did a snow dance - well maybe it is working now. Seems some more persistent snow has arrived after light flurries on and off most of the day
-
Suddenly a burst of large flakes appear - for the first time.
-
Its trying to start snowing again here - but very fragmented and sporadic so it it isn't amounting to anything. Eyes on 'The Clump' it is then
-
Here is hoping! I think Bromley has a good start on me in the sweepstake
-
At some stage the heavier snow further west should move eastwards - if there are reports from the other side of the county still of steady snow then the precipitation area can't be weakening that much (yet). Looking at the NAE, it actually takes till about 6pm till there is any indicated snow cover at all for these more eastern parts - so maybe we shouldn't be surprised. However the concern more and more it is that it will weaken quicker than the models suggest.
-
A few flakes in the air as another light flurry begins, but so far barely a dusting. The snow area seems to keep breaking up and fizzling out as it approaches. I think I will be glad if just a couple of cms comes out of this. The updated BBC forecast from about an hour ago suggested some more persistent snow getting across eastwards by dusk to give a few hours snowfall before stopping completely this evening.
-
30 minutes steady light to moderate snow...stopped yet again!
-
Snow getting thicker and heavier now - things are turning white
-
Yay - now we have progress as thicker snow has just appeared
-
Blow it a few miles this way please?
-
Is the next attempt just underway?
-
Just the slightest of grains in the air now. It appeared to have started properly but has obviously ground to a halt the other side of the village somewhere
-
A stew will be simmering later this evening - after a play in the snow *she says hopefully* Its stopped again!
