  1. It look like predictions are right and you are in the right place for a covering tonight - enjoy it as a prelude to Tuesday and thereafter
  2. It's a bit early (and very chilly!) for wrap arounds, that is for the summer Looks as though the streamer has arrived where it was predicted in eastern parts of Kent
  3. I would guess that cloud tops are cooling nocturnally - that usually helps with overnight convectivity
  4. Uff - that is probably going to pass only about 10 miles or so to my east looking at the expected track Whole week to go anyway - good luck Folkestone and adjacent towns, looks like you may well have a covering from that
  5. Cheer up - there are (at least) several days of cold weather ahead and it is only tomorrow that is marginal. Atm, the snow showers expected from Tuesday onwards are hard to predict where and when - but any that come along will be in freezing conditions. I'm expecting nothing at all tomorrow, it is not of interest at all tbh other than obviously watching for who does get snow, but from then on with the cold air in place and easterly winds setting in then there are plenty of possibilities for all of us
  6. I expect you are all hoping for the UKMO to be right late this week - those sort of set-ups always bring the best for your region. Good luck all anyway!
  7. There has been a few very light snow flurries in the air over this way for the last hour or so, but I only noticed that when I briefly went outside to the garden with my cat in tow. To the average person (who isn't a snow fanatic like some of us ) they probably would't have seen it. However Shadow (my cat) keeps sniffing the air and nodding wisely. He knows what this week might bring you know..
  8. I can see the darker cloud in the distance to my west that will be giving you those snow flurries Here the sun is out, but signs that cloud is also gathering to my north as well
  9. Not always optimistic wrt to this subject, it depends on the circumstances However the stratospheric modelling and tropospheric implications as so well documented and predicted by the experts on this excellent thread over recent weeks I think give good confidence in a blocked pattern prevailing with just brief pauses in between. This is more than just a one off SSW warming event - it has complexities to it which enhance the analysis on this thread, and also those complexities clearly produce a lot of problems with the NWP!
  10. Latest NAE indicator for midnight - shows the possible streamer there
  11. These things are very hard to predict and forecast - snow shower streamers can get going at short notice and the exact paths and locations that get lucky are tricky to predict. There have been times when a nowcast has produced unexpected snow, which leads to updated warnings. That advisory is conceivably open to slight adjustment. I think for purposes of this advisory - it is the precipitation showing off the Dutch coast right now which might provide the fun and games later
  12. It looks good for eastern Kent - just too far west here. Obviously the streamer gets going as the wind has a northerly element to it which doesn't push the showers any further west
  13. In view of what Ian F said recently about a possible Kent snow streamer and potential accumulations later today there could well be an advisory from the METO
  14. My humble little interpretation on it would be that the Canadian part of the vortex will send energy over the coming days eastwards across the atlantic - it is bound to, as a lot of cold air will be spilling out of that part of the arctic and creating a gradient as it hits the eastern seaboard and Greeland area of the atlantic. However, in terms of the tropospheric modelling being balanced and evolving against the progression of ongoing stratospheric effects on the vortex, then the prognosis of the Canadian sector being squeezed out through the ongoing warming programme should translate into a milder atlantic battle losing against the blocking and cold pool over Europe. In other words, an attempted atlantic milder incursion that might indeed make slight inroads for a very short time - more especially western parts (perhaps?) but then cold air backing westwards and southwards, especially as high pressure is able to retrogress towards Greenland as the pressure from the Canadian vortex is removed .
  15. If snow showers occur later today (perhaps) and then the NE'erly verifies from Tuesday to Thursday with snow showers then I am too bothered about what happens tomorrow. As it stands, it doesn't look like it is going to amount to much. The METO text outlook from Tuesday to Thurday on the website is but the computer models don't seem to fully agree on it and it have changed a bit since yesterday evening However the general outlook seems to be really good for cold right out to next weekend. The UKMO model is excellent

  17. Latest NAE gives a good indication of a snowy evening and night Mon/Tues as that feature sinks further south. A little snow, then rain for some places which will certainly include me, but then what could be a quick change back to snow, and quite heavy persistent snow at that. Taking an overview and anticipating forward from all the 'will it' won't it' during Monday itself the outlook for the south eastern corner looks very promising indeed with heavy snow showers quite likely in the north easterly afterwards
  18. It's going to be a long couple of days ...will it here, yes it will it, oh no, it might not..
  19. Late Monday into Tuesday and then Wednesday with heavy snow showers look like they could bring something special
  20. There was actually a very brief sighting of a few sleety blobs this morning whilst I was sorting out the bins for colection on Monday. But it wasn't disruptive enough for the gritters to appear
  21. See my signature - I updated earlier today when the locations weren't visible. I think that Monday night and Tuesday look very interesting as that low slips by....
  22. Hello Ed - that sounds like a certain advert I know I do have a conservatory roof but it is made of corrugated material so no ice test possible. The reassuring quietness of the snow would be so much better than the clatter the rain makes
  23. I suspect the second area of precipitation, if it has any rain in it, will give way to quite heavy snow as we head into Tuesday, and the first part of the day could be quite snowy just about everywhere
