  1. Just under 4 weeks to the solstice and then back on the downward slope.
  2. I uploaded forecasts from that summer on YouTube June July August 1995 was my favourite year for weather. That summer was superb and the August was magnificent. Late June was superb as well, that was very sunny around here. That last day of June was a scorcher but in the evening it felt freezing wearing a T shirt and shorts, temperature dropped about 10C in a hour or two, yet it remained sunny.Combine the first half of summer 1976 and the second half of summer 1995, you would have an unbelievable summer. It would be a severe drought, almost a national emergency I reckon.
  3. Here's a thread on UKWeatherworld that we have been discussing about a thunder drought for the last 5 years. Some interesting stats in it. I am summer 85 on that site. http://www.ukweatherworld.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/71712-thunder-drought/
  4. Natural phase. It's no different to questions asked in the past why don't we get a Greenland High in winter anymore? A notable Scandi high during the height of winter has been notably lacking in recent years.
  5. Looking at it nationally, May is on average drier than August.
  6. A forgettable spring for me. Little variation, no late season snowfall, no thunder, some lovely days like Good Friday but to be honest nothing outstanding. I prefer a spring with variations such as 1995.
  7. Bit of breeze got up. Shower just passing to the south.
  8. There was a similiar type storm on 16th June 1917 in roughly the same area.
  9. Hydrologically but not meteorologically. They are talking meteorologically, which I am surprised to be honest, they have come out with a comment like that they are pretty level headed site.
  10. Menacing clouds to my west and south. Looks really threatening.
  11. A couple of sferics from that cell over the Pennines east of Manchester.
  12. I have seen this photo before but I can't believe its 50 years ago today it was taken. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solway_Firth_Spaceman
  13. A little line of cells developing across Cheshire at the moment.
  14. Well it is now. No early June 1975 threat on the cards.Remarkable, it has to be the most snowless period in decades around here. 3 days of falling sleet and snow since 2nd April 2013. And the total time that this wintry precipitation fell is less than half an hour!
