  1. 3 of the last 4 Good Fridays have been very sunny: 2011, 2013 and 2014
  2. Some lovely pics but some of them weren't really anything out of the ordinary, weatherwise, if I were to be honest.
  3. Warm dry and sunny weather dominated much of the second half of April 1901. Maxima recorded during that period. 20th 21.7C at Llandudno 21st 25.6C at Manchester 24.4C at. Llandudno 22nd 26.7C at Boston 26.1C at Hesley Hill 25.0 C at Hull 23rd 24.9C at Camden Square 23.9C at Hartley Witney 24th 25.6C at Aberystwyth 24.4C at Colmonell 22.7C at Launceston
  4. Summer 1994 is as underrated as summer 1990 is overrated IMO.Summer 1990 and 1994 have pretty similiar values overall, in terms of CET and rainfall.Summer 1994 was a good summer.
  5. Neither to me. Given how long this period of above average temperatures has lasted since July with odd breaks or continuously since the start of December, I feel that a below average month will turn up and no doubt it will occur during one of the summer months.
  6. Got down to 0C Unsurprisingly, more frosts this spring than during winter.
  7. They are going to be local variations but at least around here the lack of snow this season has been remarkable. What I mean by season is the extended season that includes autumn and spring as well besides the winter. In past winters where the winter has been largely snowless, some wintry weather has occurred in the autumn or the spring or sometimes both. 2007-08 saw wintry periods from mid March to mid April, 1988-89 saw November snow and snow in March and April for parts. This season 2013-14, there was nothing in the autumn and the spring thus far has been devoid of anything and looks like remaining that way with the models backing away from a wintry Easter threat. There has only been 3 falling days of sleet and snow since 2nd April 2013 to now, a period just over a year.
  8. Can you believe the new season starts in a few days time for the extreme far north?
  9. 20 years ago, we had a great summer for thundery weather. Some good plumes and pretty decent thunderstorms. The last 4 years have been really poor around here for thundery activity.
  10. 19th and 20th April 1870 were very warm days most parts away from Eire. Maxima recorded on the 20th April 1870 27.8C Leicester 26.7C Maidstone 26.3C Camden Square 26.1C York 26.1C Boston 25.0C Derby 24.6C Manchester 24.1C Barnstaple 23.6C Banbury 23.3C Bury St Edmunds
  11. This is what I am hoping to see something of this summer, a timelapse of a storm near Dallas, a few days ago.
  12. Disappointing for me. It looked promising at the start of the week and some areas saw some storms, I can't help feel on the whole it was largely a bust.

  14. Just looks a misty day to me. Car has dusty spots on it. Other than that doesn't look any different from any other past misty day.
  15. I hope the mods don't mind me opening this one now, it is only just under two months to go. Personally I hope for a decent summer with good thundery interludes especially at night. Nice to have a decent storm at night, thunder days have been pretty mediocre around here the last 4 summers.

  17. Lock this thread.Have we not learnt anything about CFS's predictions for last winter? It was manure, big time.
  18. Thundery rain in a forecast is a guarantee that no thunder will be heard.
  19. Looks like most of the electrical activity has died out. I hope it is not another duff year for storms.
